OK, I thought the Singapore forts were still higher than that, but I note on the AV adjustment that there was only a slight AV decrease for the supply and disruption maluses.

At Chunking the forts are still very high but the Japanese got their AV cut in half on that attack.

So my prediction adjustment is 3 attacks for both.

Congratulations on your victory at Singapore! :D
I would have guessed one more attack if I had know you were letting the RN BBs and Cruisers handle the bombardments there! ;) As it is, I was only off by two attacks ...

Interesting that you destroyed about 70% of his vehicles and 50% of his guns, but only 10% of the personnel were destroyed or disabled. You may need to bait some traps with sushi for the remnants ...

Ah, yes! That was the missing element! Now that we have access to the wharf we can get some lines in the water. We'll be rolling in sushi in no time.

I'll be very happy if my prediction about the next assault capturing Chungking is accurate. It will take the units which arrive there time to move anywhere and even longer to become really effective. More time than remains in the game, I suppose.

• 3,911 AV at Chungking. Assault continues tomorrow. We needed 8 to 1 odds but we only achieved 6 to 1 odds.

• Success near Kukong, and our troops will pursue because Hengyang looks lightly defended.

• The Swatow operation continues.

• Our division has arrived on the supply route just SW of Pucheng and will hold there until a smaller unit is available to relieve them. Enemy forces are still moving from Foochow but I want to keep this division on the way to Shanghai.

• Our other units in/around Pucheng and Chuhsien continue moving to contact and clear nearby enemy units.

• The enemy unit just east of Chuhsien are engineers. I suppose next up are the cooks and bottle washers.

• 1,836 AV at Hangchow.

• Amoy airfield is now size 9. We will begin moving in the B-29B groups.

• The units pulling out have made it to Johore Bharu and Singapore is now within stacking limits. Alas, there are more knackered units, and those are standing down to recover but will remain in Singapore. Other units continue attacking tomorrow. Disruption is quite high so we might need a general stand down for a day or two, but for now we push on.

• 2 enemy units in the mountains near Kunming.

• 11 enemy units near our roadblock.

• Our 200th Chinese Division will continue attacking the 7 enemy units directly across from our roadblock. Tomorrow they will have tac air support too.

• Movement against Chengtu continue.

• Chungking is suddenly overrun with Chinese Army soldiers who streamed in from the countryside overnight, came out of hiding in the city, and otherwise have formed army units long suppressed and now ready to fight! Oh, but they all arrived with no supply. And the city is now greatly over stacked. That, plus the need to get combat power elsewhere in China without delay necessitates a change in plans. The 3 brigades blocking exit hex sides from Chungking will hold their positions as each alone would not have enough AV (need 1/3 of defenders) to own their respective river-crossing bridgeheads. The experienced units which just seized Chungking will all move out immediately and make for other areas of China where they are desperately needed. The newly arrived units, bereft of experience and heavy weapons, and temporarily bereft of supply, will remain in Chungking and finish off the defenders. They will then move on Chengtu and other targets to be decided later.

• 2 hexes north of Kukong we have caught up to 2 enemy units and attack tomorrow.

• The Swatow operation continues.

• SW of Pucheng an enemy unit has entered the supply route and will be attacked by our division tomorrow.

• An enemy unit has been sighted 2 hexes NW of Pucheng.

• Our armored cars are trying to catch a depleted enemy division 3 hexes NW of Pucheng to further reduce it.

• The 99th Indian Bde will attack an enemy unit just SE of Chuhsien tomorrow.

• 1,879 AV in Hangchow. Enemy recons as 9 units, 61,160 troops, 401 guns, 86 AFV.

• The 20th Indian Div is heading for Hangchow.

• With finally good enough weather, most of the B-29B are at Amoy.

Yes! Misuse of chives must be stopped - especially if they crush them and rub the juice all over themselves. Most unpleasant! :?

And closing that hex side to keep them from coming out of Manila to contaminate the newly liberated lands is a wise move to end that mischief! ;)

• More units standing down from the clearing attack.

Philippines

• 548 AV at Manila.

• We should begin reducing Manila defenses in 2 days.

• The first engineers have arrived at Clark Field. More plus a security force will arrive tomorrow.

000100 surrounded 1945-07-24 Chungking 76,45

Japanese Unit(s) surrounded at Chungking
• 2 enemy units in the mountains near Kunming.

• 11 enemy units near our roadblock.

• Our unit in contact with 6 of those 11 units will attack tomorrow.

• Operations against Chengtu continue.

• Some units have moved out of Chungking, but more units have arrived. Stacking is 399,675 out of 160,000. More units are now given orders to move on Tienshui, Ankang, and Sian. HQ units will be assigned to follow in the coming days.

• Newly arrived (inexperienced) units in Chungking which do have supplies will attack tomorrow.

• Our forces moving on Hengyang see enemy units on both sides of their approach, obviously intending to cut off their supplies. Hengyang is held so weakly I think we can seize the city quickly, then clear the hex to the west. Rail line!

• The enemy 2 hexes NW is a support unit and will be cleared tomorrow by the armored cars.

• 1,906 AV in Hangchow. Another division will arrive in a few days.

• Swatow operation continues.

Japanese Unit(s) surrounded at Chungking
• 2 enemy units in the mountains near Kunming.

• 10 enemy units near our roadblock. 1 has crossed the river but is off road.

• Our unit attacking the 5 enemy units directly across from the roadblock will continue attacking tomorrow.

• Operations against Chengtu continue.

• Enemy at Chunking looks about wiped out.

• Over stacking at Chungking is still bloody awful after yet more units arrived yesterday. Too many recruiting pamphlets were printed!

• Two units will cross the river into Hengyang tomorrow into a small enemy unit. One of them will then immediately head west to clear the rail line to Kweilin.

• Armored cars are heading toward Pingsiang, defense status unknown.

• Swatow operation continues.

• 2 enemy units have moved onto the supply route just SW of Pucheng. Our division will attack tomorrow.

• An additional division is moving to join the forces already at Hangchow.

• 1,911 AV at Hangchow.

000094 surrounded 1945-07-26 Chungking 76,45

Japanese Unit(s) surrounded at Chungking
• 2 enemy units in the mountains near Kunming.

• There are 9 enemy units off road near our roadblock. The roadblock has served its purpose as those badly depleted enemy units cannot materially influence events in Chengtu.

• Movement into Chengtu continues.

• Chungking is still madly over stacked (382,931 versus 160,000) but the last enemy units are almost eliminated.

• Our troops crossed into Hengyang without a shock attack, indicating tac air brought enemy AV to 0. Assault tomorrow.

• Armored cars continue moving on Pingsiang. ETA 2 or 3 days.

• All units will be in Swatow tomorrow.

• The units expelled from the supply route today were stronger than anticipated, and are now heading west, cross country, to menace the supply route from another direction. A Bde (now organizing at Pucheng after moving by truck) will move to engage them.

• The 36th British Division will rejoin the spearhead in the battle for Hangchow and Shanghai.

• A Bde will move on Foochow from Tsinkiang (near Amoy).

• The additional USA independent regiments will sail into Amoy in about 5 days.

• 1,920 AV in Hangchow.

• The 20th Indian Division will arrive at Hangchow tomorrow, assault thereafter.

• A Bde is moving on Wenchow.

I am guessing that hitting industry does not change military supply because that is not stored in civilian areas. Other than AA and CAP fuel expended the supply shouldn't change because of a city attack.

Yeah, I would develop at least 10 targets that can be hit in random order to keep his fighters and AA dispersed. Nagasaki, Fukuoka, Shimonoseki, Hiroshima, Gifu, Osaka, Kobe, Nagoya, Yokohama and Maebashi come to mind.

Thanks.

That last one, Maebashi, brings up a question for me. It has no Manpower. I know I can't do a Manpower attack there (duh!), but what about targets that have a small amount of Manpower? I remember one of the Devs saying that Manpower 8 and above was necessary to really do any damage with Manpower strikes.

What have you found with Manpower strikes on targets with less than 8 Manpower? Do they seem worthwhile to you?
