Omission or else

Post by HOTEC »

It may be something omitted. Would it be a problem?

I would think it would be the same as having:
Upgrade:0
if nothing is defined for slot 0.

It is at least improper in this case, as now you are not sure if it was deliberate or a mistake.

That Ground Element looks like pre-war French crap. Is there any TOE that actually uses it?

Ok, there are some French OBs beginning around OB Slot 1582.

This data all looks like a carry-over from WitW.

I think it is safe to ignore.

there is a German Pzr regiment that comes in about May 42 using French tanks, its actually fairly useful as it tends to have high MP so useful for cutting retreats and even if it gets hammered it doesn't draw on the German tank stocks. Its removed, if I recall, sometime in 1943.

There are also a few training formations in the West TB that use these

No upgrade sounds right as they just used captured stocks

In WitW this was a H38 which did not seem to exist, only H35 and the updated H35 model 39 or H39. Pinged our data dev to remove that path

Well maybe there is an isolated case where 1 or 2 French elements are still being used. I am pretty certain the bulk of French elements/OBs aren't.

Regarding element '3010' (from above). I don't see it being used in the GC at least.

This is how you can know for sure....

1. Launch game editor.

2. Load scenario and/or generic data. (depending on the case)

3. Go to the CSV tab and export the the unit data.

4. From Windows, go to "\Gary Grigsby's War in the East 2\Dat\CSV" folder and open "xxxxx_unit.csv" in your favorite spreadsheet app. (you can use a text editor, but that would be painful in this case...)

5. If you go to the first row, you will see all the column headers, the columns you are interested in are (Sqd.u0, Sqd.u1, ... Sqd.u31)

These are the columns where Ground Element '3010' for the H-35 Light Tank would be listed if it is being used.

In the image attached, we just happen to be looking at the row data for the German 1st Infantry Division.

From that view, you can tell that it is using WIDs of ( 81, 84, 88, 427, 79, 91, 76, 77, 74, 75, 67, 68, 54, 110, 112, 1490 )
Those would be assigned to (Sqd.u0, Sqd.u1, Sqd.u2 ... Sqd.u15) with the remaining Sqd.u entries set to '0'.

So, you can see how, in this example, where Sqd.u0 & Sqd.u1 got its values.

Regarding the '3010', you can search the spread sheet and see if it shows up in any of the Sqd.u columns. If it doesn't, then it is not being used.

Did not see that until I wrote my book (above).

Good it is getting removed.
