Formation supply question

Post by William the Silent »

If I create formations with a HQ, do I have to put supply squads in the HQ unit, or can I put them in a seperate unit (with supply icon). Like supply train unit next to the HQ unit?
Is there a difference in supply effect?

I guess you are talking about Support Squads. You don't need them in a scenario. If you use them, and some are lost due to attrition or combat, then your Formation Supply Efficiency [circled below] will drop. They only have an effect if they are in HQ Units. For example, putting Support Squads in Supply Units has no effect.

So whats the use of supply units in games? I see games with supply trains with supply sqauds in it (Leipzig1813).
Just capture trophees?

Supply Units – Increases the Supply Level in each supplied location that can trace a path no longer than the Supply Radius to the Supply unit. Additionally, Supply units multiply supply distribution to adjacent Cooperative units by 1.5. There is no effect on Unsupplied locations.

Supply Units can contain any type of compatible equipment.

The top squad in that Prussian Train has Support ability. Doesn't that make it a Supply Unit?
It even has a Supply Radius.

Btw. How do you set Supply Radius for a unit.

I have to learn a lot still about this game. The manual doesn't give easy answers.
Glad you guys help out on the forum.

Oh! That Artillery Train is a Custom Equipment, so I don't know about its capabilities. If the Documentation with the scenario doesn't explain it, then I would suggest to run a test by causing casualties to that unit and then see if the Formation Supply Level falls.

The Supply Radius is set in the Event Editor, one setting per side. It can be changed by Event.
