We have managed to get the disrupted oversized 17th Chinese Corp (US TOE) back to Chungking and avoid any unpleasant armor attacks on the road, but there will be some in two days east of Chungking...perhaps there will be a surprise for Japan though here...
Chungking is close to stacking limit...and will certainly greatly exceed that as the units spawn over the next month.
In Burma things are progressing very nicely, just slowly. Gave Japan a taste of heavy Allied bombing wiping out a fresh IJA artillery unit in one day with nothing but 2E bombers. The IJA 4th Division could be isolated shortly, and we are racing to isolate the 29 IJA units at Akyab while also penetrating into the Magwe plains, while enveloping the IJA troops at Lashio.

By refusing to retreat (no valid path, ha!) this Indian Brigade was lauded by the Press!
Re: Spanking Lowpe (NJP72 vs Lowpe (A))
By using seaplane tenders, we are able to have the CATs fly from our forward bases despite iffy supply.
Doing this advance cautiously, but might bring the carriers up for a raid in two days time...want to secure Ndeni. Ships loading all over from Tabby south to Suva for our next advance...only a few IJA airbases to worry about. Just debating the tactics to be used....
Japan used the 4th Raiding Regiment (one I am not aware of...a Dababes special) to invade Ndeni:
Ground combat at Ndeni (120,143)
Japanese Shock attack
Attacking force 209 troops, 3 guns, 0 vehicles, Assault Value = 15
Defending force 1428 troops, 0 guns, 0 vehicles, Assault Value = 39
Japanese adjusted assault: 6
Allied adjusted defense: 37
Japanese assault odds: 1 to 6 (fort level 2)
Combat modifiers
Defender: terrain(+), preparation(-), experience(-)
Attacker: shock(+), leaders(+), leaders(-)
Japanese ground losses:
36 casualties reported
Squads: 0 destroyed, 7 disabled
Non Combat: 0 destroyed, 0 disabled
Engineers: 0 destroyed, 0 disabled
Assaulting units:
4th Raiding Rgt /2
Defending units:
6th US Naval Const Bn /4
3rd Pioneer Battalion
8th Port Maint Engr Bn /1

Really good news in the device activation area this month.
Sherman tanks (range 2), but I don't think I have any units that use them yet.
USMC 43 squads!
Mines!
And upgraded AT guns...might actually get some of them into China with the Africans and 254th Armor that is there. Chinese US TOE units don't upgrade to 57mm till 1/44.

First combat experience of the General Lee tank (range only 1), but they managed to hold off an entire IJA Division in x3 terrain south of Akyab. Yeah, there was a recon unit with Humbers there (and they suffered 0 disablements or losses).
Very durable against IJA division currently.

Lots happening....moving forward...pressuring Japan.
Here is Burma...unfortunately the IJ got good intel and the British cruisers and a handful of USN Destroyers rushed past Ceylon.

Re: Spanking Lowpe (NJP72 vs Lowpe (A))
Fighting in China....too slow with a decent stock Chinese Corp...as they are caught in the open by IJA tanks. Should have canceled their movement last turn and let the fight in the better terrain.

Half of the SBDs don't attack...but Japan gets good dl (10) on Wasp and Yorktown....
What will Japan do? Keep pushing ahead....retreat...some combination?
Subs are scarce here as most are getting their Dec upgrades or ferrying supplies.

Used a mass 4E bombing run on the 1st Tank Division...basically a one off to keep Japan flying LRCAP over these tanks. Destroyed several vehicles...Don't really like using the 4Es in a ground attack role, prefer to use them carrying supplies or in strategic warfare.

I feel your dilemma -- but it's better to have aircraft that are good at too many things than aircraft good at too few things!Lowpe wrote: Sat May 14, 2022 1:41 pm Used a mass 4E bombing run on the 1st Tank Division...basically a one off to keep Japan flying LRCAP over these tanks. Civil war? What does that mean? Is there any foreign war? Isn't every war fought between men, between brothers?

Surprisingly to me, Japan pulls back all ships...2-5DL on all Allied shipping....I was expecting a few IJN warships to probe forward.
Landing and building up the SPS 1 or better ports, while there are great runways available, those SPS 0 level ports really slow things down and or cause needless losses in loading. I suspect the LSTs and xAPcs landing will greatly reduce that effect but they are now just starting to trickle forward.

I guess these beauties, xAPcs, are DaBabes specific ships....they are very nice...but jumping jeshoovits...the LSTs are incredible.

Re: Spanking Lowpe (NJP72 vs Lowpe (A))
A big crisis is developing for IJA troops in northern Burma...I am guessing that the IJA Guards Tank Division is headed for this theatre as I haven't seem them in China for a while. I don't think they are rampaging across the Chungking plains, but they could be there and simply not spotted yet.
Interestingly enough, the only US Army frontline troops here is a lone battalion of 105mm Howitzers at Akyab. As long as the fighting is hot and heavy in China I don't need any US Army troops here...pretty good for a scenario 2 game I think.
What do you guys think?

Re: Spanking Lowpe (NJP72 vs Lowpe (A))
China....all the IJA tanks are running around the Chungking plains but they haven't moved on Chengtu yet. Don't really care about the troops caught there in the plains or Chengtu as they are all stock Chinese infantry or a HQ or two. They are there to gain time.
Chungking has 2100 AV currently, with a nice chunk of artillery units and the 77th LRP providing anti tank capability. A whopping 3k AV worth of Infantry Corps will arrive over the next 81 days with 2k of that frontloaded over the next 20 days. I suspect that will do a number on supply...but I hope to get most of them out and into the x3 terrains and be able to rotate troops in and out of Chungking. We shall see....
I am curious to see how Japan goes about taking the bases here...if it were me my focus would be to take Chengtu and Neikiang first and work on isolating Chungking. Neikiang makes for a great airbase, I would fly engineers and an HQa in there asap.

We are putting the pieces together to really pressure Japan hard. This SAG suffered a bit in their flank speed run around Ceylon, and I believe the LIvermores need an upgrade, but Calcutta can do it all!

Re: Spanking Lowpe (NJP72 vs Lowpe (A))
Marcus is looking really good....it would take a major effort of the IJN to even attempt to take it, at which point they would be extremely vulnerable. Very pleased at how this operation turned out so far. I am prepped for the Marianas, but can't match the KB yet and simply don't have the amphibious shipping to tackle it. For now we will keep pushing forward risking as little as possible...
Re: Spanking Lowpe (NJP72 vs Lowpe (A))
Nationality China units use less supply than other Allies (even less than Japan, which is less than non-China Allies), so there is a hard to calculate effect for bringing Allied units into China before late in the war when you can (hopefully) bring supply in by ship.Lowpe wrote: Mon May 16, 2022 2:05 pm A big crisis is developing for IJA troops in northern Burma...I am guessing that the IJA Guards Tank Division is headed for this theatre as I haven't seem them in China for a while. I have sent quite a few units into China....2 armor (one was withdrawn), 6 or more ART, 1 LRP.witpqs wrote: Mon May 16, 2022 9:52 pmNationality China units use less supply than other Allies (even less than Japan, which is less than non-China Allies), so there is a hard to calculate effect for bringing Allied units into China before late in the war when you can (hopefully) bring supply in by ship.Lowpe wrote: Mon May 16, 2022 2:05 pm A big crisis is developing for IJA troops in northern Burma...I am guessing that the IJA Guards Tank Division is headed for this theatre as I haven't seem them in China for a while. 1 year into the game...China under severe pressure! Take your time reading this map (I hope it is somewhat clear).
