User Interface Differences between WitE, WitW, and WitE2

Post by Russell Osterlund »

As an owner and a player of the three "War in the ..." games, I have encountered some inconsistencies in three interface areas that I hope will coalesce and standardize around the same interaction in these and any future versions.

1) Location of the Next Phase button. In WitE it is merged with other buttons on the left where in WitW and WitE2 the button is found on the far right. This is minor, but it can be a bit surprising when initially switching from one game to the next. Its future location on the far right is my preference.

2) Display of odds or relative combat strengths in the bubble pop-up in WitW and WitE2; nothing in WitE. I appreciate this information being displayed in the first two, but miss it in the latter. Is there any chance of retrofitting this feature in WitE?

3) The action of the LMB click on a stack of units. WitE selects the entire stack with both single and double-clicks. WitW cycles through the individual units in an inconsistent fashion; double-click selects the whole stack. WitE2 selects one unit with a single-click and cycles through the stack with additional clicks; double-clicking selects the whole stack. This last is the most serious of the three inconsistencies, since the player must first examine the click results before adding, subtracting units from an impending action. WitE2 seems best in its approach. What are the chances of this filtering down to the earlier games?
