Overrun reinforcements from reserves theatre

If the square where transferred divisions from reserve theatre is overrun by advancing German troops what happens to them before they arrive on the map? Do they reappear in the reserve theatre box next turn or arrive further to the east on the turn they were due to arrive? Or are they listed as instantly destroyed to reappear in the reserve theatre box later?
What happens?
It is a mystery to me.

It used to be, and I assume still is, that the units still arrive on map, but at a different location. I'm not sure how it picks the new location (guessing it moves east or west a certain number of hexes from the enemy controlled hexes).
