Reserved credits and funding levels question

Post by 100thMonkey »

Is there a way to "unreserve" funds that have been reserved by the advisor, without switching to manual management of funding levels?

Most things are deducted from your cash without asking. E.g. maintenance, retrofits, respurce trading.

The only time I have seen cash 'reserved' is to buy a colony ship. And you can cancel the colonization attenpt. So there is that.

As for the retrofits etc. Nope. It will happen near regardless. You can disable every possible automation, but a lot of stuff will happen anyway.

Just to clarify my initial post: the advisor had "reserved" some credits (iirc: 20,000) to build a specific facility at a specific colony. I didn't want nor needed that facility. I wanted instead to use those credits to build another type of facility at another colony. But I didn't see any way to "unreserve" those credits, other that switching funding levels to manual. Which I don't want to do for now.

I didn't check if the construction had started, but I'm pretty sure it doesn't start until all the "reserve" funds are available (the construction wouldn't start without paying the construction cost). So that mean that in these type of situations, it's not possible to do something similar to what you did (canceling a colonization attempt).

Putting the funding levels on manual is probably the only way to do it, but maybe someone knows of another way...

Simply don't allow your ministers to build facilities at your colonies... it really does not take allot of manual management to chose what facility to build where on your colonies.

Also, never allow them to build ground troops either, they just build way too many of them you will never need, save the money and maintenance for ships.

I never auto build facilities. So never seen that. At one point I set the facilities automation to advise (ask first) but when you have 100 colonies it drives you insane. No. Just switch it off.

The answer is: no.

Reserving 10% of income is generally a bad idea and you should only do it if you desperately need a small sum of credits and your private sector is in a bad spot.

You have to micromanage your spending in the early-game (I try to make sure that research is always at 100% efficiency), but once your economy gets going, the sliders don't matter anymore. You should always have enough income for 100% growth & research´and something like 40%/60% spread should just let you "set-and-forget".
