[Suggestion] Tactical Settings - (Selected Ships)

Post by Thineboot »

At the moment you have to set them when you create a new design. Any change afterwards has to be done manually, for all individual ships. Upgrading, including a new set of orders, won't affect it either. That's a good point when you don't want to check back on prior changed ship settings. But it's the opposite when you want to adapt to new, improved tech. So stick with the individual tactical settings, they make absolute sense. But please give us the opportunity to survive a change of mind during game without having to check all your ships just to get it right. There is no filter for tactical settings meaning you have to click and check every single ship just to get it right.

This shouldn't be a big ask as it uses only existing functions and UI elements.

Would like to see the way tactical settings are implemented at fleet template level changed.

At the moment we have conflicting concepts. Role, hull and design are not consistently applied, and they mean different things at ship and fleet level.

Fleet Roles should be expanded to include Attack, Close Escort, Picket and Support. This determines where the ship is placed in the fleet formation.

Fleet Templates should allow for tactical settings to be at the ship design level, so you can include multiple ships with the same hull but different designs, in different roles, and with different tactical settings.

This way, I can distinguish between my close attack destroyers from my missile armed destroyers, or my point defense destroyers. (For e.g.).

I love the apply tactical settings buttons.

Also the change from role to position is great for formations.
