I am retired, but Xargun is not. He does work from home so can do turns as long as work does not keep him from it.

Since I knew I could not protect both Clark Field and Manilla, I opted to defend Manilla with
all I have. He did attack Clark field, hitting an empty airfield. He also attacked Manilla and
even though he scored some hits, I made him pay for it.

He attacked with 60 Betty and Nell bombers. He scored hits on SS Seadragon, xAP President Madison,
AV Langley and DD Pillsbury. All but AV Langley were sunk and AV Langley will not last long, she now has
81 fires. In addition xAK Yu Sang sank from damaged inflicted yesterday.

But, my valiant airmen at Manilla shot down 17 Betty and Nell bombers along with 6 Zero fighters
Also lost were 4 Zero and 2 Betty bombers to ops losses.
My airmen lost 11 P-40E, 6 P-35A, and 2 P-26A along with 1 P-40B destroyed on the ground.
I have to balance my losses against the fact that he has much better trained pilots, so even though
I can not sustain a loss ratio of 29:19, I did inflict these losses on the IJN, hopefully some of his pilots
perished in the fight since the fighting took place over my base.

xAK Suva was sunk SE of Suva by a sub launched torpedo.

And Tarawa and Kota Bharu both fell today.
Other air attack took place in many places on the map, I did not oppose any of them other than Manilla.

Both halves of KB have disappeared from sight again.

At Manilla I expect him to only sweep next turn and I am going to stand down all my fighters. I can not
stand up to Zero sweeps.

Not much to talk about.

I sank an APD and a PB with Dutch subs

AV Langley and xAKL Mauban both sank due to damage inflicted earlier.

AVP Poolster was sunk by a sub off of Pontianak

Bayombong was taken by paratroop, I have forces moving there to evict them.
Hong Kong held, but took loses.

I tried holding some ships at Hong Kong hoping I might be able to slip them out later, but
he caught on and bombed a few of them that were left, I will lose one that I can not move.
There are some others that are damaged but they are trying to move out.

No bombs or sweeps at Manilla, I have 3 subs in the shipyard, they take 3, 8, and 11 days. We will see.

Both parts of KB are still undetected.

Another day, more ships sunk, mostly as expected.

I lost 3 xAKLs, 2 near Balikpapan to a sub and 1 in the South China sea from a Nell attack.

I lot an xAK East of Luzon to ship launched Kates.

But I sank the xAK Mogamigawa Maru near Soc Trang. It looks like it was carrying an ART unit.

Usual bombing by Japan, he lost 2 to Flak and 2 ops losses. I had no losses.

Hong Kong held another day.

He landed and took Nauru Island and Ocean Island. Troops landed at Sorong.

One more day and no sign of either KB, I think what is operating East of Luzon is a miniKB of some sort.

Hi T Rav, enjoy the ride.

At sea, the losses to subs continue, an xAKL was lost a few hexes NE of Batavia.
CL Danae took a torpedo and will have to retire.
It would appear that a sub laid mines at Balikpapan, I have the minesweepers from Manilla arriving tomorrow.

On the ground, Hong Kong held again, but the defenders are taking bad losses.
Sorong fell, Miri fell. Victoria Point fell.

Enemy forces landed at Guam, Manus, and Hollandia.

I lost a few more merchants to air strikes.
One xAKL in the South China Sea to Betty bombers.
A TK and xAK to ship launched Kates. These are from Naga trying to escape to Midway, I guess it isn't going to happen.
More bombing on numerous targets.

A bad day for the Allies.

Hong Kong fell today
Guam fell today.
Hollandia fell today

Sadly, AM Lark hit a mine at Balikpapan while sweeping mines and was lost.

AGP Niagara was lost to a sub torpedo attack just outside Suva.

More devastating, 2 xAKL were lost in surface action in the South China Sea and 6 xAKs were lost to multiple air attacks, also in the South China Sea.

A bright spot was CL Adelaide sinking two xAKLs at Manus. No troop losses reported, maybe the ones on shore will be low on supply.

Another bright spot was 14 B-17ds bombing Miri oil fields. Last turn they showed no additional damage, just the 150 damaged.
This turn they show 174 damaged, even though the raid reported only one oil hit.

Another day 2 more ships lost. An xAK was sunk by sub off of Toboali and another was sunk by aircraft East of Mindanao.

Troops landed at Naga today. Usual bombing by Japan.

I tried to hit the oil at Miri again, looks like I damaged 3 more, but lost 5 B-17Ds doing it. Surprisingly I only lost 2 pilots.
The B-17D is not as good as the B-17E. Less durability and less guns.

Maybe I will try a night attack when the damaged ones repair.

More merchant ships sunk today. An xAKL and a xAK sunk in the South China Sea by Nells.
An xAKL sunk by surface fleet in the South China Sea.
Three xAKLs sunk in the West side of the Philippine Sea.
I had send a 2 CL bombardment fleet to Miri, but they got intercepted by CA Chokai and DD Sagiri.
CL Durban was sunk and CL Dragon will retire from the area

I retook Bayonbong on Luzon but lost Naga and San Fernando on Luzon
Hwaiyin in China was occupied by Japan.

Usual Japanese bombing, mostly in China

The B-17D sure does have good range, though. It's good for hitting industry, oil, etc. way behind the lines where he doesn't have CAP.

Cheers,

I had a medical procedure yesterday that really put me down for the day. 11 hours of sleep have helped a lot.

Hi CaptBeefheart, Yes they have range but not as much firepower or durability of the E model. I should not
have flown them a second day, but such is life.

Today undefended Atimonan on Luzon was taken by paratroops.

In Malaya, the 3rd ISF Base Force was not able to move fast enough as was destroyed on the road outside of Kota Bharu.

More disturbing was the lose of the hex 71,56 which is the first hex from Hanoi and Nanning. He achieved a 2:1 result
before reinforcements got there. I will have to retreat to Nanning and now Pakhoi and Kwangchowan are threatened.

And in the air he seems to have determined I have ships in port at Manilla. He launched a port attack and heavily damaged
one in the shipyard. I only have two subs left there, all the rest have repaired and departed.

A bit of a bad surprise, I-10 found CV Enterprise and fired off 6 torpedoes, but all misses. Whew, time to change underwear.

He landed troops at Talaud-eilanden, it is undefended

In the air, he now knows there are subs at Manilla and he is bombing them. I probably will lose both of them, but I got out a good number
of them before he bombed again after day 1.

The last merchant ship from Naga is sunk today. They along with the ones at Hong Kong I write off from day 1. If any survive all the better,
cut if they are all sunk it is to be. And because he did not press into the Celebes Sea with KB-2 or the miniKB in the area, I got a lot of shipping
from Manilla out.

Usual Japanese bombing in many locations

ON the ground, he invaded and took Makin.
Lingayen was taken, Heavy loses for the Allies.
And he took the previously invaded Talaud-eilanden.

He bombed the port at Manilla, further damaging one sub.

In the air the normal Japanese bombing, concentrating on Chinese targets.

Well, another bad day. I was moving Force Z up to be able to bombard Miri. But out of the blue KB2 showed up and sank BB Prince of Wales. Everyone else moving out at full speed.

At Johore Bahru he tried to land paratroops and take the base, but an AA unit was there and stopped them.
The 11th Indian Infantry Division will move up and eliminate them since they own no hex sides.

In the air the usual Japanese bombing.
I was able to get SS Pickerel at Manilla into shipside repair and now into a TF. She is at 49 sys, 37 Flt( only 6 major) and 6 engine( all minor ) damage.
I think she should make it out of danger.

Taiping fell today
He did a DA at Bayombong that failed, light losses on both sides, more of mine though.

I did a LRCAP over Wuchow from Kweilin with one of the AVG squadrons flying P-40Bs and they met up
a flight escorted by his only Tojos available. And I lost 4 fighters and downed zero

Other than that, just normal bombing by Japan.

I really need to get more pilots trained, I am way behind the curve because of where we start.

Sadly SS Seawolf succumbed to another bombing attack today. She could not clear the shipyard in time.
That makes 7 subs lost at Manilla. Not too bad.

Paratroops landed at Kuala Lumpur and took the undefended base
At Johore Bahru I attacked a small fragment of the 1st Raiding party. In spite of having a 24:1 assault odds I only disabled one squad.
The 11th Infantry Division arrived, they might do better.
Enemy troops landed at Dadjangas on Mindanao

In the air normal air attacks by Japan.

As expected Dadjangas on Mindanao fell today

Paratroops took Malacca in Malaya. I was able to completely destroy the fragment at Johore Bahru

Japan retook Bayombong from seek forces.

More normal bombing in by Japan, mostly in China, but some in Malaya and Luzon

Interesting turn. He landed and took Tabiteuea, Canton Island, and Baker Island.
None of those am I interested in at this time. Later I will take them back to provide PBY platforms.

His preliminary bombardment attack at Clark Field shows he will need to bring more in.

He also landed at Kuching.

He is bombing in China in locations where I can not put up any fighters, except Wuchow and he is using his
few Tojos to escort them.
He is also bombing troops in Malaya and Luzon.

Vanimo on New Guinea fell.
Kuching on Borneo fell.
A small unit of mine was destroyed at Kuala Lumpur.
Brunei was attacked, but the base force held.
An attack at Georgetown by Japan was unsuccessful.

More normal bombing by Japan in many areas of the map.

Christmas Eve. Not a lot happening right now

I retook Malacca, He took Kuantan, failed to take Georgetown, took Brunei and Cabanatuan. I will need to take some screenshots soon to show how things are.

Japan air attacks in the usual places. I see a miniKB in the Celebes Sea.
