Coming back to EiA after a long time.

Post by sw30 »

Last time I installed this was 1.08.07, about 10 years ago! Glad to see it picking up again. Played around with 1.24.02

I'm using the 1805 EiH scenario, so some of this may not globally apply.

Potential Bugs/issues:
1) As France, I just received Persia, which has 2x corps of 10i5c, but their setup is 30i20c.
2) Light ships autoevade combats with Heavy, but this probably should not apply to a forced running of a blockade box?
3) I could have sworn there were rules to downgrade Cav reinforcements to Inf, does this not exist anymore?
4) The fact that Free States do not have a hatched display is a bit confusing. I took Tyrol from Austria, and later formed the CoR. The hatching disappeared, making it difficult to tell who owns Tyrol right now (CoR) Might I suggest hatching slanted the other way from the conquered state for Free States and horizontal hatching for Kingdoms?
5) Creating CoR is supposed to give +2 PS, according to the chart, but I saw only +1 in my log

Suggestions (mostly UI)
1) For CoR and OE provinces, could we get a (R) and (O) notation next to their province names?
2) If we could toggle counters on and off, that could make some UI elements more visible
3) If we could somehow see at a glance, which minors have corps, that would make freeing states simpler
4) If we could see (maybe a toggle overlay) the $/Men for each province, that would make planning easier. I know the board game had it, but maybe it's a bit too busy?

Thanks for continuing to develop this game!

Welcome back! This is good feedback, and timely as I work towards completing v1.24.xx for release.

For #3, it's still there. You need to access the nation window and double click on arriving reinforcements. Then you get a popup asking you to convert all factors to infantry.

I'll take a look at fixing the other issues and see what I can do about the UI suggestions. For the minors, I think I may be able to add something to the nation window popup to show $/Men/Corps.

I'm currently working on Hotfix #1 for v1.24.02 Beta. Certainly the game is better now, but there are still (still!) a few lingering issues I need to tackle. It's like a never-ending saga...

Hey, I just posted v1.24.02 Hotfix #1 above that addresses several of the issues you raised. #1, #2, #5, and suggestion #1 made the cut.

#3 I already mentioned is still in the game.
#4 is also in the game, if you go to the mini-map and select Free State shading.
Suggestions
#2 is too hard for me to mess with (for now).
#3 is a nice idea and I still need to look at maybe adding something.
#4 is already in the game, if you go to the Show Selected Nation Information box.

Obviously, I'm keen on tracking down and resolving reported bugs. And some improvements if they aren't too complicated. In adding the (R) and (O) notations to the map, I also updated the (P) notations so they all look the same, and slightly larger font so easier to read. Adding more info to the map like $/men or some Free State notation would just clutter things more than they're worth.
