Can’t colonize planets in nebula clouds

EDIT: I added some informations and screenshots that I should have included initially
======================

I have a colony ship (Azamol Envoy), that is near Mars (Rocky Desert Planet), and is full of Mortalens (50M), perfectly suited for such a planet, and ready to colonize it. (see screenshots).

Even though the ship is right beside Mars (it had to go through a nebula cloud to get there), and Mars is very close to other colonies of mine, if I select the planet, the colonize button is disabled in the selection panel, saying “Beyond allowable colonization range”!!! But It’s right there, just beside the planet! Any closer and it would land on it!

And, as far as I can tell, it’s the same for all planets that are inside a nebula cloud (I have invaded at least one planet in a nebula cloud, but was never able to colonize one).

Selecting the ship and then right-click on the planet doesn't work either: there’s no option to colonize!

Is it impossible to colonize a planet that’s inside a nebula cloud, no matter what?

There’s at at least one other thread discussing this:
https://www.matrixgames.com/forums/view ... 1&t=384229

Don’t know if it’s a bug or bad UX (if it’s impossible to colonize a planet in a nebula cloud, the game telling you something else leads to bad UX: a bad User eXperience).

In either case, it’s something that needs to be fixed.

I have seem the same with Humans and Terra. To begin with it made sense as my ships could barely get there, but even after I had enough shields/engines to get there, I still couldn't colonize it.

Sol system has been problematic since I first found it. 'Too far away' is the common error.

It helps a bunch if you up the "maximum colony distance" in game setup to at least 400, and maybe even 500.

I used to have this issue - but now I always play at 400 - and that's usually enough to make it work right.
