During combat resolution, the game determines the average unit quality of each side (always rounded down, if I remember correctly; not sure if weighted by stacking points). The difference in unit quality is then applied as a shift to the final odds.

Once the final odds, intensity and random roll are determined, the damage from the combat table is applied to each individual unit, but it will be modified by each individual unit's experience (more experienced units take less damage than inexperienced ones). How much of the damage is applied to readiness or strength still depends on the unit's readiness (before the battle).
That's it! 8-)

Ah yes, there might be a bug there as currently intel has no effect on arty/airstrike effectiveness!
It's on the list!

my original curiosity was about air assets...

quality does not affect the attack/defense bonus of air assets, but it does affect their losses and recovery.... correct? Maybe also the chance their support gets aborted?
Sorry if this has been explained somewhere else already.

AA attacks are just like any other attack, so the Quality of the Attacker (AA) is compared to the quality of the defender (Air unit) and that'll give a shift to the odds.
So, yes, quality affects chance of attack being aborted and amount of casualties.

In the scenario "Gordov's Counterattack" there seem to be two hexes marked as victory locations in the victory overlay ("V"). However, only one seems to be valid (if you click on the Kalach victory info, only one of the two hexes are highlighted).

Is this a bug or are there indeed two victory locations in Kalach (one of which is missing its VP-information)?

Both hexes have to be occupied by the Axis to gain the victory points for Kalach.
