Why have BF110E-2s(bombers) performing SWEEP... ?

Post by DarkHorse2 »

I have all of SKG 210 trained as "Bomber" and assigned mission is "Bomber".

I also have them assigned to a Ground Support directive.

However, I also see them performing SWEEP operations as well.

Why have fighter-bombers performing SWEEP operations while on ground support directive, yet it doesn't do anything?

I checked the log file as well, those flying ESCORT fired, but nothing from the AC flying SWEEP.

Historically, yeah after a fighter-bomber dropped its load, it would often linger over the target and perform more of a fighter role for the remaining mission time over the target. But in this case, the SWEEP did absolutely nothing. (the bombing barely did anything... so much for the GS is OP argument. )

Is this typical or WAD?

EDIT:

Here is the "Air Mission" listing from the "General Info" tab. Nothing about SWEEP here. :?: :?: :?:

This is using them again for a 2nd Ground Support mission against an adjacent hex (to the previously attacked hex).

This is actually what I would have expected.

What did I do differently this time?

I cleared the load-outs on each one of the Bf110E-2s and then set it back.

No idea if this had anything to do with it or not.

Its typical for fighter bombers and documented in the manual.

How are you able to identify which aircraft are which in the battle log?
