I've been a city boy my whole life, either very urban or suburban houses and apartments until our new home. We absolutely love it out here but in my whole life I've never had poison ivy.... until now. It was very small, itchy spots in a couple of places on my legs and my left wrist. Well, with no chance to get out for flag pole installation supplies we took the phone with an app called "Leaf Snap" out to explore the recently cleared backyard. Sure enough, one of the areas that was mulched and cleared had a pretty good sized patch of poison ivy scattered among the other various "greenery" that is sprouting now that it's all cleared. I mowed some of the cleared area for the first time 2 weeks ago, and used the string trimmer for a good bit of the area where it turns out the poison ivy is growing. The trimmer flung bits of the stuff all over, including on my legs.

I was very happy to find it growing in the yard and to identify it as I had been wondering it it really was poison ivy or some other source for the rash. Monkey Pox was mentioned more than a few times.

With the same meticulous planning that I would use to arrange an amphibious invasion of a Japanese held island, I surveyed most of the yard, staked out the limits of the nasty ivy, and proceeded to unleash the equivalent of a 16" shore bombardment on it in the form of Roundup! I worked methodically, moving my stakes in closer and closer as I worked it over with the care and caution used to sweep enemy minefields. 8-)

It was a very satisfying afternoon's work to make up for the flag pole delay.
I used to pull out poison ivy by the roots. Never got it. Until later in life. Best wishes for a speedy recovery from both the ivy and Covid-19. By the way, is your game with Mike still going?....GP

Thanks, GP. Yeah, the game is still on, but I haven't had a turn from Mike in a couple of weeks. Guessing real life has reared it's head again.

This sounds quite fun, and indeed satisfying.

I hope you have nice weather and will get the pole installed soon.

Maybe a picture of your yard with the new pole?
