Are there any laws concerning flag use in USA?

Here there are, or were, customs. But there might have been some laws as well. Or might be still. Need to check it up for fun.

Hi Orm. We do have some federal laws regarding how the US flag is displayed and treated. For instance, no other flag can be flown higher than the US flag if multiple are displayed in the same area. The US flag should not be flown at night unless it is illuminated. (I have a solar powered light for the top of the pole that will keep it properly illuminated all night) None of these are ever prosecuted as criminal offenses if violated, and I'd estimate more than half of the population isn't even aware of them. They are really customs, as you mentioned, that were formally made into law but still treated as customs.

I would consider flying a Navy flag below the US flag, but nothing else with it. The home owner's association allows only the US flag or the NC state flag. (It is possible that a Jolly Roger might somehow appear on Halloween and/or National Rum Day)

The fence construction company did their thing at 0730 this morning with their powered post hole digger and I have the concrete and sleeve in. Tomorrow morning the rest of the pole and the flag will go up.

Interesting to see that your rules are so similar to ours. I checked out our flag customs yesterday. I find it interesting how our military handles the polar night. During the polar night they flag, for a month, between 9 am to 11:50 am, and then a few minutes are added each day until the 'sun catches up' and they follow the sun instead. Until, of course, they get to the regular time schedule...

Like the idea of the of a flag mysteriously appearing at times.

We do, Leo. There is a solar charging, battery powered light at the top of the pole that lights up the flag all night.
