Supply Question

Decisive Campaigns: Ardennes Offensive is the fourth wargame in the Decisive Campaign series. Covering the battles in the Ardennes between December 1944 and January 1945, it brings to life Operational wargaming by lowering the scale to just above tactical level.

Supply Question

Post by Scarz »

My opponent and I are deep into the campaign scenario. Some German units have broken deep into the US rear areas and captured two supply dumps west of Arlon.

So the US units north and east of Arlon are not receiving much supply. Arlon is full of supply, but does not seem to be sending it out (yellow supply noted on the graphic).

My questions:

1. Assuming Arlon is troubled by the lost of depots to its west, shouldn't Arlon fully supply units while it has plenty of supply?

2. If Arlon receives less supply from the west, as seems appropriate due to the distance, loss of some main roads west and disruption in the depot chain, shouldn't it still give out what supply it has until its gone or running low, then go yellow?

3. Shouldn't units arriving from the south as reinforcements be receiving supply from main depots off map to the south?

Thanks.

For this reason in the last version of all campaign scenarios Arlon supply base is no more fixed so setting the base to "deplete" you can use all the depot supply and fuel , but is vital to restore the supply line asap !

Historically the supply from south was very problematic, Patton had to stop many time the Lorraine campaign without fuel !
The supply source for the allied is NW of Namur, for the Germans East of Prum.

Thanks for your response. I'm not sure what you mean by Arlon being "fixed." How does that prevent a depot from depleting supplies?

It seems that with low supplies or not, some should come from the south (off map). Otherwise the majority of US reinforcements will be dependent on the single depot at Arlon that may or may not be receiving anything depending on what the Germans have done to the north.

Thanks.

It's a situation that's obviously easy to address using the editor. But then, this is PvP game, and both would need to agree.

Anyway, a good observation that maybe the campaign needs to be "adjusted" a bit officially. That's up to the leadership!

I have the same problem with Germans blocking supply from West of Arlon. It will NOT allow me to set Arlon on Deplete. It did right after I downloaded the update version of 1.02.00 but not know. I downloaded to my Steam account and load that way.

You can try to deploy a supply depot with a card along a free main road !

A new game, and another Arlon supply issue. This time I am playing the allies. Arlon is not isolated, nor is it cut off from the main supply bases to the west. It has plenty of supplies stockpiled. However, it is only giving out a little supply as can be seen by the yellow coloring.

What gives here? Why is Arlon not giving out supply? This seems a major issue as so much of the US reinforcements come from Arlon...

What's the setting for the supply depot? Deplete, Build-up, etc?

Sure. You mean my side of the save game file from the pbem game, right? How do you load those types of files?

Well, in this case you'd have to entrust me with your PBEM password.
