Against high level forts, I have always had the impression that Deliberate Attacks work best because they give the combat engineers cover to assault the forts (as opposed to charging in the open during a shock attack).

Shock with tanks, deliberate with the infantry...the defense is done pretty much no matter what Russians select.

Tanks are decent at reducing forts.

Yes, it's just that those were river-crossings. The frontier up there is a mire.

I didn't take an exact fix, but there was no LI or HI damage there when I started this series so I'll look at what's there when I get the next turn. Even then I'm sure it will be several days behind.

• Our divisions at Rashin are marching on Seishin.

• The spearhead at Chinchow will head for Yingkow. The objective is to slice right into Port Arthur and deny that size 9 port to enemy warships.

• We have a great deal of combat power loaded onto trains just waiting for railheads far enough forward to be liberated.

• We are beginning a supply airlift to Alexandrovsk on Sakhalin.

• The invasions ships for Yakushima and Tanegashima are almost fully refueled.

• The invasion ships for Kanoya are all loaded and moving to a staging point.

• Carriers are squeezing in a few last upgrades to air groups.

Always thought manpower attacks were good for the first few attacks where manpower was greater than 10 or so...but then after that focused attacks better, if more clicky.

• I am finding out there are Allies garrison requirements on some (make that many) bases in Manchuria.

• 2,287 AV at Seishin. Assault tomorrow.

• I didn't realize Chinchow has a garrison requirement. Rather than send back an armored spearhead unit the disquiet will have to wait for near a week until an engineer-sapper unit with the follow up column arrives.

• 427 AV at Tolun. Undefended as far as I can tell, assault tomorrow.

• Enemy movement is seen NE from Changchun, on the road to Taonan.

• Enemy movement is seen SW from Harbin, on the road to Changchun.

• Enemy movement is seen SW from Hailun, on the road to Harbin.

• Transports moving to Daito Shoto.

Took me a while to parse that comment about naval landings at Yenki - the third hex from the coast. I had images of your DUKWs wading ashore and switching to wheeled mode to drive 92 miles to Yenki to make the assault! :o
Then I saw the Naval Infantry unit in the CR ... much less entertaining.

The garrison requirements in Manchukuo are not severe, and best of all - there is no garrison requirement anywhere in Korea!

I am railing in the NKVD to deal with the partisans. They shall rue the day.

I think I basically misinterpreted Lowpe earlier comment about no garrison requirements to include Manchuria/Manchukuo. Now I've got two cities causing a fracas. Doh!

Not me!

I always wondered what the impact was long term for a game where you spent some clicks supporting partisans. It is hard to figure out, since you aren't given information on enemy garrison requirements in the base game.

Probably meaningless in a game where the final vp tally if 50k, but I was thinking more along the lines of supply destruction, fuel and oil destruction and even industry (except manpower).

• Lots of movement underway, but only the same clearing attacks anticipated for tomorrow.

• The Empire has 51 fighters at Toyohara. In spite of that, we have 64 twin engine torpedo bombers set for 3,000 feet to make strikes on enemy shipping at and near Shikuka.

• There are some destroyers in port at Kagoshima and maybe at Kumamoto, but there don't seem to be any fighters west of Hiroshima/Kure. Since the B-29's have not actually flow for at least 2 days (weather), the B-29B at Amoy will hit Kagoshima and the B-29's at Naha will hits Kumamoto. Surprise and speed should protect the lightly armed B-29B. Kumamoto has lots of guns.

• The carriers have had their air groups topped off and are heading toward Daito Shoto. There are a total of 3 groups of Bearcats embarked and 9 groups of Corsair -4 model, the high speed one. They will be needed because lots of ships do have have fully updated AAA suites.

I thought it was you a while back and BB was reminding me. 🤷‍♂️

• Unless it's a false scouting report, there are 2 enemy CA right at Vladivostok.

West Coast USA, Alaska, Hawaii

• A B-17G group arrived on the East Coast.

Pacific

• A large amount of merchant traffic, tanker traffic, and troop traffic is on course to pass 5 hexes south of Wake Island.

• There is an empty merchant convoy 12 hexes east of the enemy, heading east for the US West Coast. They are not spotted and will continue on their way.

• A TF of 15 destroyer escorts is 2 hexes east of the empty convoy but heading toward the enemy. They will head for Midway.

• Empty supply convoys are being routed even farther south than the usual cautious route.

• Loaded supply convoys are being sent back toward Hawaii.

• One troop convoy already west of the KB's N-S line is only 15 hexes from KB. The bad news is KB is heading that direction. The good news is the convoy is making 8 or 9 hexes per day and have altered course to the SW, directly away from KB.

• A larger troop convoy is not yet near that N-S line and is 23 hexes from KB. They will head far south before heading west again.

• A tanker convoy is farther away from KB and will likewise head far south (SW) before heading west again.

• The KB missed CV Boxer and some surface ships, 21 hexes almost straight west of KB and heading toward the front. Ha Ha!
