China vs Russian Federation (collapsing)

Post by Nikel »

Using Scen view excellent tool and searching for Russia and China, apparently there is no scenario that cover this hypothetical situation?

Context:

The collapse of the Russian Federation is one of the possible outcomes to what is going on. There are some interesting videos available that try to explain what could happen or why could happen, if there is interest and is not considered as politics by the moderators, I may post a link.

China is supposed to be playing the slow card for Taiwan and the Pacific, but Siberia and all its resources are also just there, the republics that could surge in Siberia may seek for help in China to survive the russian nationalist forces that remain loyal to Moscow. The empire of Japan in its time, also had this dilemma, looking for resources by land or sea.

And a quote by Bill Browder to add more spice, as far as I remember it: "China has all the population, Russia all the resources, they will be at war in a decade."

And what would do The West in this situation?

Well this is not a scenario, but ideas for a full campaign :P

Dear friend, reading some of your input lately, I wonder if you don't have real disturbing issues.
I would suggest you get away from news outlets and anything internet for a while, I really worry for your metal health.
I am not against a collapsing scenario or anything but, monomaniac thoughts are not good for your health you know?
Also, you may be using the wrong medium here.

This is the second person that insults me in this forum. Is there a moderation here?

Yes, I have mental issues.

The same mental issues that the creators of the many scenarios available for this game, both modders and developers included, at least the hypothetical ones. But hey, I did not create the game, and did not create any scenario.

Just an example, Aegean in Flames. I will not quote everything, it is the long read, but you are intelligent enough to understand:

Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayip Erdgogan recently unveiled his plans for a wider role of Turkey in the Region and the expansion of the country's sphere of influence even outside its physical borders.

...

Greeks are facing a dilemma:
Accept the fait accompli or fight back for something that could change the future of the country forever. While Turkey bets on the first, Greeks decide the second!

War...war is inevitable!

So who created this madness? Who beta tested it? Who sold it?

Do you think the same of them?

Nikel,

I believe the guy you're responding to is just a troll. His (limited) post history would seem to imply that at minimum he like to ruffle feathers, don't take it personally or let it get to you and most of all don't feed the troll. If he's insulted you in the past please make sure you're using the report feature to report his post, these are large forums and things can slip by moderation.

You're absolutely right that a majority of us spend time thinking about scenarios like these and those who create them often spend that time planning and thinking about them in great detail.

The scenario you brought up would absolutely make for a compelling campaign or even a single scenario.

An interesting thing I've found reading feedback on other scenarios and campaigns where you play as a side other than NATO is that there's a good subset of the player base that just really doesn't enjoy playing as Russia or especially China. I think it's more platform/doctrine uncertainty than it is anything political.

I remember playing a few Chinese based scenarios and I was a fish out of water when it came to utilizing the assets comfortably. I think a campaign that sees you play as China vs a non-NATO superpower would have a lot to offer in regards to that and could be a nice segue for a lot of players into exploring platforms, weapons, doctrine, and situations they usually otherwise wouldn't expierence. The more directed approach and length of a campaign might be a perfect way to introduce a unique conflict like the one you're proposing and get people who stay within their NATO bubble like myself to play and enjoy it.

I am not insulting anyone, (why would I?), I am just worrying for your condition.
Also, I am no troll as suggested, my bio is still visible from the very old days on Dr Who's Harpoon Pages, those who know...
I am just not social enough to spend my time on a forum, hence my few posts, as I can find most on my answers with a search function.

For someone who doesn't post a lot, not sure your previous post is what you want to be known for.

I for one really appreciate scenarios that allow the player to use non-NATO assets. Of course there will be a Western "bias" in terms of scenario creation; it is only natural given the developers of the game, the focus, and the geopolitical situation. I'm sure many games developed outside of the West have a similar focus.

For what it's worth, the Steam workshop does seem to have a good number of scenarios clearly developed by Asian (predominantly Chinese) developers, where China is the "dominant" power in the scenario. Nothing wrong with that and I enjoy playing them.

You are right.

For example just today, a scenario was released by a chinese modder, from what I understand with google translate, China and Russia are at war in 2040, and this is not the craziest stuff in the scenario description :D
