Deluxe, latest patch, and MP

Gary Grigsby’s World at War is back with a whole new set of features. World at War: A World Divided still gives complete control over the production, research and military strategy for your side, but in this new updated version you’ll also be able to bring spies into the mix as well as neutral country diplomacy, variable political events and much more. Perhaps the largest item is the ability to play a special Soviet vs. Allies scenario that occurs after the end of World War II.

Deluxe, latest patch, and MP

Post by AlbertN »

As per the topic - I believe here there are already few players...
But is anyone giving a go to Deluxe (the mod) ?
Is it balanced for Multiplayer? I remember I tried it in the past and the armada of French tanks were not making it that Axis friendly.

But I remember some map changes and other tidbits that made the game more interesting.

I've been working on an update. Last week I put many more hours into playtesting. The opening Axis conquest of France still hasn't changed. It is NOT hard to take out France as you imply. I could produce a video showing exactly how I do it with minimal losses. Losses that average out to what it has always cost Germany to take. 3-4 production points in damage is about the average going back to even the first version of this game. Like 1 production point of damage is the average for taking Poland. I kept it all as close as possible to vanilla so as not to affect the next stage of the war. Perhaps you are not getting the Infanty defense upgraded the turn before you take France. You have 16 infantry to start. There is an 80% chance you will have your upgrade in infantry tech the turn you take the lowlands. If you don't increase that and produce 6 arty instead you will have your increase in infantry tech before the attack and have the number of arty you need to suppress sufficiently as well. Then you walk right in to either Eastern or Western France with about 3-4 production points of damage as the result.

Point of fact about my latest update. I have added one more point in infantry EV tech to make it 100% you will have 6 EV the turn you take the Lowlands. This change wasn't made to make taking France easier (because it's not needed), but rather to allow a player a bit more flexibility in making a few more infantry and not have to worry anymore about pushing the fail probability of getting to 6EV from 80% to 60% and lower. Now one could say build 2 infantry and 4 arty instead of making 6 arty as I suggested above. In the end however, you need a lot more arty anyway before hitting Russia, so I more or less stick to my old build pattern even though making a few infantry early will not hurt the usual upgrade timeframe.

I may be wrong but I remember there were French tanks. French tanks hit German tanks - and each damage hit is 2 production points.
So I remember quite a sensible difference between vanilla and deluxe.

I've not touched it since a while though.

I surely do approve of the submarine businesw with reduced US entry - I'd even reduce it more as it seems to discourage to try to sink things in the Atlantic -and- invest in research for.
