Whai is interesting, I usually never destroy enemy planes when capturing enemy base, AI has already moved them. Maybe they were converted to Kamikazes and that made this different. I don't think there would be 400+ damaged planes there...maybe I peek a bit.

I think I found at least partial reason why AI Japan lost so many planes in Bangkok.

There were lot of units converted to Kamikaze recently and they hadn't had time to repair.

Apparently AI does not obey Air Group withdrawal rules either, since there were plenty of units that had withdrawal date by end of 1943 and they were still around.
