Scenarios

Post by conger »

Hello, I was wondering if you all could elaborate on the scenarios. Theres two 1861 campaigns listed, I’m assuming Manassas to Appomattox is Eastern Theater only and Blue and Gray is the Grand Campaign? Are the other campaigns regulated to specific theaters, or are they just different start points for the grand campaign? Looking forward to this one too.

G'day conger,

All six campaigns are 'Grand Campaigns', taking place over the full map of North America and continuing until the end of 1865.

Blue and Gray is considered the 'main' campaign, starting on April 12th, 1861, and allows you to build your army, research &c virtually from scratch. Manassas to Appomattox starts in July with a lot of the armies and research already set up, allowing you to jump straight in to the fighting.

Battles around Bull Run & maybe a Southern gambit next :)
Pittsburgh Landing (Shiloh), Memphis, Nashville is brutal to defend. Maybe some Kentucky or WV raids :)

The other campaigns are:
1862 Scott's Great Snake, which begins just after Grant's victories at Forts Henry and Donelson.
1862 Trent War, an alternate history scenario in which the British join the Confederate side after diplomacy fails to resolve the Trent affair.
1863 Lee Rides North, which begins immediately after Lee's victory at Chancellorsville.
1864 Make Georgia Howl, which begins in January 1864 and allows you to play out the desperate battles in the lead-up to the Presidential Election.

All four campaigns end in December 1865, although the 1864 campaign has an alternative ruleset enabled by default that decides the victor on November 8, 1864.
