39ND AX#1
With storms raging in North Temperate, there will be no attack on Benelux nor on CCH units. Instead I move out KM units to protect CPs in Baltic. The French ships in Baltic are still alive, because I did not take all Allied Baltic ports by RtB phase. Stratbombing Hengyang is successful, GStr not. Even without flipped units I assault the city and take it, USA doesn't care.

The CW blockade the KM in port with strong forces in NSea, just in case the weather clears up for next impulse pair. CW covers all sea areas under SUB threat. FRA initiates in Baltic, but nobody finds.

Weather getting more severe, but GER nevertheless contests NSea. HQI Yamamoto leads assault on Kweilin and suffers a catastrophic defeat. Of course, sooner or later as the Axis you will encounter the dreaded 14 on an assault, but it makes a huge difference, if it happens only later! With hindsight I would say, this was already the turning point for the Japanese, from which they never recovered. By losing the momentum in Southern China, I should have accepted my fate and adopted my plans accordingly, instead of losing a lot of time by sticking to them, which I could not recover. I was not flexible enough in my mind.

CW reinforces NSea even more. CW initiates in Baltic again, but does not find. Again GER fighter clears CW bomber despite shooting at +2, but hey, at least my fighter does not get downed, I am surprised ...

Most German land units are arriving at West front. JPN can barely move because of bad wether, but kills at least a CHN rearguard INF.

FRA reinforces borders to Belgium and Germany. CHN plugs holes in defence lines in the South.

39SO Summary
After the first turn, I was still in good mood, despite getting rain in AX#5 and losing other opportunities after the fall of Warsaw. In general, the turn was too short and my losses too high.

39ND Summary
In Europe I consolidated my position by clearing the Baltic and moving my forces to the West. No opportunity to grab Netherlands. Turn length was normal, so I was still 1-2 impulses short. Japan received the dreaded 14 very early in the game and lost all momentum. The assault itself was not too bad, but I should have reacted differently to the bad result.
