Countering "all in" , specific questions

Post by DavidDailey »

1. Poland. Without 100% guarantee of Polish surrender on turn 1 most punch units cannot force march or operate to Belgium border until turn 3. Any way around this? 2. To Belgium. Even forced marches will not get from Poland to the Belgium border for two turns. Do you burn up mpps operating your tanks and armies west for the quick hit? 3. Luxembourg, turn 2. Exactly how? If you move that army into the Saar on turn one it is either destroyed or wrecked. If it survives it is too weak to help immediately in Belgium. 4. Into Belgium. If you rush in, say turn 3 or 4 with damaged, non upgraded units into a country where one combat unit is pushed back and hard to hit you stand a real chance of not taking the country immediately. Still do it? 5. Into France. Do you drive into France without upgrading or reinforcing units to keep up the momentum, even in the snow? Remember, every turn counts. 6. Motorization. Yes it is expensive. But the area in northwestern France is really constricted. 7. New units. Are there really any new units that can arrive soon enough to make a difference in this battle? Remember, we are in a desperate race with time. 8. The Med. Commonwealth units are pouring into southern France through the Med. But a neutral Italy can't stop them. Is there any way to frustrate Australians, Kiwis, South Africans, Indians, Sudanese, Malayans, and God knows what else pouring into Marseille? I would prefer thoughtful, detailed , even lengthy answers rather than flippant remarks. Thank you.

well, you need good weather, thats all, dont invest on movements

dont upgrade your units as i said you need the airpower and everything is easy (paratropps are basically the point too)

just good weather to take france easily previous path of Belgium

if the Allys defend England sending troops to france, prepare the invasion of UK

October-November and December 1940.(always bad weather); are for invest in amphibious and tanks

I can only answer based on my own experience. Others will have a different approach.

1 - No. Aim for a T2 surrender. At the end of T2 all of your armies & tanks in Poland should end their turn on a rail link so they can operate.

2 - I operate armies & tanks. Corps can force march. T2 I upgrade my armies to Lvl 1 inf - you shouldn't need them to finish off Poland. T3 I operate the armies to the Belgium border. The tanks can follow if available.

3 - I go Lux on T3. T1 upgrade the local army to Lvl 1 inf. T2 reinforce and swap it into position for an attack on T3.

4 - T4 attack on Belgium with armies & airforce if weather permits. Air should also be upgraded by now. Tanks will be a bonus if available.

5 - yes - keep attacking. All armies & tanks should be upgraded by now. No need to upgrade corps.

6 - mobility upgrade is too expensive & unnecessary. Check out Lone Runners AAR. Even with bags of MPPs none of his units have mobility except those that spawn with it.

7 - you don't need to buy new units. Those queued should suffice.

8 - you can't stop them arriving. Just kill them.

Try the first few turns vs the AI. If you can't master it vs the AI you will struggle vs a real opponent. Good luck!

I disagree with this point. An extra tank and that 3rd paratrooper can pay nice dividends during the Battle of France and farther down the line, and the tank provides insurance in case one of your starting ones runs into problems. You'll need it for Barbarossa the next year anyway. I also typically spring for a new HQ too else I cannot cover all my units (typically get Kesselring to command the Luftwaffe natch).
