Fatal exception playing WWI version

Post by abulbulian »

I'm playing my steam version, which appears to be up-to-date. Haven't played it in years, but it was working before. Now when I click on a unit I get the exception attached. I tried reinstalling and still the same issue. What is going on here? I have no other games in the last several years with this situation. This happens on any scenario it seems.

thanks

I found this from Hubert on steam discussion, however I couldn't find the file in a similar users/ dir, but did find it in the steamapps/common/ path. Deleting it didn't fix the issue

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
It looks like there is an issue with the Blue Max mod in that some of the recent game changes are incompatible causing it to crash. The quickest fix for this is to delete the following file in the mod (it is not actually needed):

game_screen_operational_management_buttons.png

The file can be found typically in the following folder:

C:\Users\<username>\Documents\My Games\Strategic Command WWI\Mods\Blue_Max_Interface\Interface

In the meantime I'll see if this fantastic mod can be updated by IronX.

Hope this helps,
Hubert

In the Settings -> Mods, I just unchecked the blue mods interface and the issue is gone.

I did finally find the mod dir on my local (not steamapps dir). So all good here too.

Glad to hear you sorted it out and if you had an older version of the Blue Max mod then this issue could arise. I would remove the older version and just use the one that now ships with the game and is in the latest patches instead as that one is compatible with the latest version of the game.
