Steel Tigers?
Just wondering is the game being worked on full time now? Or is GGWITE2 still the No1 priority?
Thanks
Thanks
Re: Steel Tigers?
Also very interested in finding this out Wodin...
Re: Steel Tigers?
I'm seriously doubting this will ever see the light of day tbh - It's been talked about for years, at this point.
Re: Steel Tigers?
I hope you are wrong. There's simply nothing like it. Testament to the fact that I have gone back to it in 2022! Combat Mission is probably the closest a game has got. Great game, but ironically the 3d aspect is frustrating. There is still a grid that predicted spotting is based upon, and unless they fixed it, I don't think you can target upper floors of buildings unless you can also see the bottom of the building...
SP lets you play a game with a little more abstraction but without losing any realism. It would surely be a huge seller, based upon the prior games, and I cannot for the life of me see how this would not get made at some point.
Re: Steel Tigers?
Since Steel Tigers seems focused on WW2 once again, I will skip it anyway. I have found modern warfare much more interesting with missiles, laser warning, APS, ERA, MLRS, ...
Chancellor Gorkon to Captain James T. Kirk:
You don't trust me, do you? I don't blame you. If there is to be a brave new world, our generation is going to have the hardest time living in it.

Re: Steel Tigers?
I agree with you - Steel Panthers is my favourite computer tactical wargame of all time, but I can't stand the way it looks in modern computers. I hasn't aged well at all. I particularly liked Brigade Command (SP3) for the ability to play anything from WWII to modern era and the grand tactical feel.flibby wrote: ↑Sat May 14, 2022 5:23 pm I hope you are wrong. I also hope I'm wrong, to be honest, but it feels it's been hinted at for so long (5-6 years now?) and nothing has come of it except that they're pushing it forward to work on something else...
Re: Steel Tigers?
This game is dead. Not one screen shot and it's been how many years?
Re: Steel Tigers?
Probably or at least a steel old tigers
Re: Steel Tigers?
Hopefully they will have some news by the end of the year as its been in hiatus ever since they began working on "War in the East 2" as the team simply was not big enough to work on the two games concurrently. I see they are still releasing patches for "War in the East 2" so I guess we will just have to wait a bit more longer.

Re: Steel Tigers?
It seems to me that Matrix would be leaving a lot of money on the table by not doing a new Steel Panthers. Interest from fans of the game has always been tremendous. I would be willing to pay $100 for a new SP...and it looks like games are getting more expensive anyway, as I just plunked down about $70 or so for Command: Modern Operations.
On the other hand, I wonder how much Gary Grigsby is involved in an SP project, as he's said a while back that he wanted to retire (and he's nearly 70 years old, born in 1952 the same year as me
)
But I'm hoping.

Re: Steel Tigers?
It's a shame that they spend all that time in War in the East 2, which caters to an audience that I think is probably a lot smaller than what Steel Panthers did.
It appears to be a problem of both Slitherine and Matrix, tbh

Re: Steel Tigers?
Has anyone heard anything about the development process of ST?
Is thing game even coming out? I know the developers mentioned they wanted to get WitE2 all worked out, but wasn't that a while ago?
Can they either come out and say "yes, the game is still alive" or "no, it's dead"?

Re: Steel Tigers?
I hope we get something. I've been a Matrix customer since adam was a lad, but I seem to remember bigwigs at Matrix giving us (false) hope for some time and it would be beneficial for goodwill if they would let us know wtf is going on.zasgard wrote: ↑Fri Jul 01, 2022 3:27 pm Has anyone heard anything about the development process of ST?

If it's been binned, say it's binned. If GG has lost interest then tell us that and god bless him for all he's done. Maybe then the community would get together to do something.
Re: Steel Tigers?
Sorry this is a long post.
Way back in the day I meet a man while playing air warrior on GEnie.
( That a whole nother story leading me to start ISP business. Had to explain
to customers what email and web pages were)
We started to exchange files through AOL. I found out he lived only 30 miles from me.
I bought a second computer(not cheap at that time) and he would come spend weekends with me.
Set up 2 games, one on each computer and swaps seats playing turns,
all weekend.
To say I have been waiting on the new steel tigers is a understatement.
Am only 62 but had a LVAD (left ventrical assist device) have to stay hooked to
electricity 24/7 to keep pump attached to my heart working.
Survival rate is 82% at 2 years, had mine for 5 months now.
So I dearly hope I will see steel tigers before I kick the bucket.
For years have been telling my wife what I have been waiting for.
She is no gamer or computer person but if you ask her what game does
your husband want she will tell you.
Again sorry for long post, as former ISP I know nothing is erased from "internet"
maybe a hundred years from now someone will read this waiting for steel tigers IVV.
Hey, it could happen.
Thanks for reading this,Stay safe!

Re: Steel Tigers?
We are genuinely sorry that development has stalled on Steel Tigers. As was said it was put on hold, and we have no yet restarted active development on it. We will keep you informed of progress when it restarts. It is definitely something we have a lot of enthusiasm for, but it does need us to have the right team in place to execute it.
Cheers

Well, at least thanks for that Pip
To me, this game is dead.
Sad, but a lot of us can move on then

Very hard to do great Tactical Game.
You need great team of developpers(you have!) and very big large testers team(you don't have it!).
Re: Steel Tigers?
Did anyone say development had stalled previously? All I remember was that it was next after WITE2. Is there a playable alpha?PipFromSlitherine wrote: ↑Wed Jul 06, 2022 4:08 pm We are genuinely sorry that development has stalled on Steel Tigers.
