Restored server game: cannot save, error about ChallengeID

Post by TheFerret »

A server game was ended by my opponent (my fault though), and after discussing with my opponent we asked Matrix tech support to restore the game, and happily they were able to.

With the restored game, now I can't save to the server. The "uploading game" progress bar gets halfway and resets to the start 5-6 times, then an error message "Attempt to assign property 'ChallengeID' of non-object" appears for a few seconds. After that I get the normal "could not save to server, retry?" message.

I am using Steam beta 1.02.32 and have validated my local files. I suspect the server game was last saved with an older beta, perhaps .29?

I responded to Matrix tech support with this info too, in case there's anything they can do server side.

Thanks for your help!

Is this TheFerret vs Veterin? The last save on the server is dated May 19. However, the last play date is listed as July 4, which doesn't make sense (unless that was a download date, with no upload save). All I can do on my end is delete the last showing save game. That should revert the game to the prior save (May 14). I don't know if the server people can help you in another way. Let me know if you want me to try to revert your game by deleting the last visible save.
All understanding comes after the fact.

Hi Joel, that's the correct game, yes!

The last turn should have been by Veterin, on May 19th, so that's correct. I assume the July 4th is by the support team restoring the game. I will continue working with them to see if they can do anything to get it working again. Thanks!
