Effect of "star" interdiction results

Post by thedoctorking »

I know that interdiction results that don't add up to enough to cause a full movement point addition to the cost of entering the hex still prevent strategic movement. My question is, does this also hamper supply delivery in any way? I've been doing a lot of interdiction air attacks in hopes of slowing supply delivery to front-line units, but my bombers aren't good enough to get to a full point in most cases. Am I wasting my time?

Also, if I set up a ground strike mission so that part of the area of effect is in territory I control at that point, but the enemy subsequently captures it, does the mission have any effect on those hexes?

Short answer is ye probably entirely a waste of time.

I've not experiemented much myself but been the target of very impressive amounts of interdiction and basically it had no effect what so ever even with most of the soviet airforce doing it to a small area.

The more I experiment with the LW the more I get the idea that using for anything but ground support and the occational navy patrol is close to pointless. Level bombers can probably be sent to other theaters at no loss is my guess, the LW doesn't have enough of them to use them really.

From my experience adding blanket Interdiction while modding.

Its simply not possible to get it up to the level where it starts hurting over a large enough area so dont bother.

Small interdiction (small star symbol because less than 10 interdiction points) will cancel admin movement. This is true for supply vehicle movement and ground unit movement. So in some hexes, and especially with bad weather, you can increase the MPs of supply runs, and thus reduce delivered supply and increase losses to vehicles. Since partisans don't impact areas close to the front, this kind of interdiction in the near rear area, can make it harder for the units to move laterally along the front.
All understanding comes after the fact.

Thanks, this is what I was thinking. I was setting my cheesy I-class fighters to bomb, then assigning them to 1 hex radius interdiction ground strike missions at low altitude over places where the enemy was driving into my lines. A bunch of them would get shot down, but they would leave star (or at most 1) interdiction markers, and I was hoping that was making it harder for the enemy to bring units and supplies into their salients.
