i've been playing since start and i bought stalingrad earlier today. almost through 1st scenario.

i play more board games than computer right now. Panzer, Fields of Fire, Zero Leader on the tables now.

I like V&V. i've played board and Vassal though not in a while. Fine system.

and if Rico and Big Ivan say its fine...its fine.

Good job to all involved.

Great to see the DLC out, the maps look great and I am happy that the old Squad Leader mod is still working. I'll have to look into creating a mod for the Russians when I get some free time. I haven't looked into all the additions but the system is fleshing out nicely, congrats to the dev's.

Thanks Randy, Rico says it will be fine.

Feeding the trolls perhaps but I don't feel the game has a rushed feeling at all.

I didn't notice any trolling in this thread until I read your post. What's wrong with someone posting suggestions for improvements? These days it seems to go-to method for shooting someone down is to cry 'Troll'.

You're quoting a post from the middle of last year. I looked back in this thread and I see that some moderation was needed earlier, I'm sorry we missed that. This forum has rules for civility and against personal attacks. Throwing charges of "troll" around or calling others other names goes against that. Resurrecting past disagreements is also not worthwhile. Let's let this lie and focus on the feedback by all parties rather than the personal attacks.

Amen!

I've found that I can no longer post on Steam (as Sgt. Steiner) due to personal, unwarranted attacks.

Thanks so much for keeping the Matrix forums user-friendly. It is literally the only forum I dare post on.

Very best wishes to all of you!

It still needs work. It’s a shame, with sufficient work put into it this could be a great game and a classic.

Moving on…

This may need some work, but I have post - with the current sale and the mods available it is currently a HUGE bargain. And I never use all caps!

Best wishes to all.

Well, some progress has been made. But not nearly enough.

You still can't edit and save an existing scenario.

You still can't change the lengths of existing scenarios when selecting one.

There is still no real scenario editor, just a partial one.

There is still no unit editor.

This game still needs serious work. It's a good base game, but it still lacks too many things that every such tactical game should have.

Note that no one has made the old Squad Leader scenarios for this game. That's a very bad sign.

Hopefully the new Microprose WW2 tactical game, Second Front, won't have so many missing components.

It's a shame that so many companies publish incomplete tactical games and then wonder why they don't become classics.

Right on 👍
It also needs a completely functional Battle Generator with random maps.

"You still can't edit and save an existing scenario."
"You still can't change the lengths of existing scenarios when selecting one."

Actually, you can...to include editing generated scenarios & changing who the attacker is.
Simply place any scenario (backed up originals, of course) in the valorandvictory/editor/draft folder load Draft Scenario & edit away.

Thank you very much for the workaround!

Hi Steely Glint

This thread and its title always make me smile (See bottom for reason).

We provided the ability to create your own units and scenarios by exposing all this in the installation from day 1. You will see in the forums those who have provided alternative units and even a whole package - Operation Plunder. All the scenarios we provide with the game are made using the in-game scenario editor.

Since the game's release a year ago we have added many new features requested by the community. This latest release includes one of yours - scenario difficulty selector - where we allow the player the ability to bias the dice to make the game easier or harder against the AI. Another one of yours - extending/reducing game length will come in the next release. Our maps are all very custom-made to the theme of the DLC or scenarios so providing a map editor would be an extremely difficult thing for us to implement. We have and do continue to discuss ways of doing this without spending two years of our limited time working on it at the expense of other features and new content.

In addition to the new features, we also worked on 2 large DLC's (with a third in the works) that require a lot of testing to ensure they are as balanced as possible.

Bruce and I do all this because we enjoy it. I have a full-time job and a family, and Bruce is retired. We do all the coding, most of the graphics, the testing, responding to emails, monitor the forums, try and track down bugs that are reported, and generally managing the game as a AAA games company would without the AAA budget or rewards.

I smile at the thread title because if I worked any longer hours than I already do on the game my wife would by now be in prison for murder (Reason: All I ever saw was the back of his head on the computer). The money I receive from this game goes to her to ensure that does not happen!

Keep the suggestions and comments coming we always welcome them.

You have indeed made some needed improvements. Well done for that.

Adding a scenario turn length selector (go big!) will be another one. Thank you for that as well.

What this game could really use is a way to import that huge treasure of Squad Leader scenarios into the game.

I wish you luck. I m also retired but for some reason seem to spend far too much of my time consulting.
