[obsolete] experimental Rising Dawn Mod

Post by Tac2i »

AT Phoenix (Rising Dawn) is in development. The Phoenix Team consists of Erich Ormand, well known for his Four Seasons Mod, and Claus E. Füssel, known for his popular Global Domination scenarios and many others.

AT Phoenix Open Beta:
https://www.matrixgames.com/forums/view ... 5&t=384305 (Updated 21 July 2022)

[obsolete with 21 July 2022 update to Rising Dawn] This experimental mod makes a few minor changes to Rising Dawn. It does not replace any files in the beta, just adds a few additions.

1) enables regular hex size screenshots vice small hex size.
2) changes a setting that allows NATO graphics when viewing large counters (RuleVar 871)
3) enables EnhancedMod graphics for use with the TOE Editor

If this mod is used in conjunction with my NATO graphics Mod, all regimes, both human and AI, will have NATO counters.

Here is a screenshot of the NATO counters available on one of five panels of the TOE Designer with this mod. The first two rows are the colors available for NATO counter background.

Screenshot of the entire map. Notice that there are two German people groups players. This is possible because AT Phoenix (Rising Dawn) allows you to select the people group of each regime. In this case I chose the German people group for my regime and left the 3 AI on random. I have not tested yet, but I am assuming when war between me and the German AI starts, and I capture one of his cities, that I will be able to produce units from it, not just PPs or resources.

I just cannot get the NATO counters to show period. I imported your atzip file, when I start the game I select the experimental rising dawn. Once the game starts I select erising dawn from the main menu, select my parameters and start the game. No dice, still have the pictures. If I understand I'm supposed to see NATO counters for my regime at that point. I also imported the zip from your other thread for NATO counters for the AI. Same process except I click edit after aming the scenario and go to the engine graphics rulevar 871 and change that, no dice. Its been a while since I messed with ATG, I must be missing some fundamental thing. Got your message, appreciate you assistance. Just spent the last hour trying to get it to work.

By default, standard ATG has only silhouette counters. My NATO mod (regTOnato.atzip) replaces those counters with NATO counters. Any new random game you start will have, by default, NATO counters. This does not affect any saved games. You must start a new one after the mod is installed. Even without the NATO mod, you can still gain NATO counters for your units by using a TO&E template. After installing the NATO mod, RuleVar 871 simply allows you to switch on NATO counters when in zoomed in mode. Otherwise, you will still see silhouette counters.

Step 1: Install regTOnato.atzip (or the updated file attached below)
Step 2: Change value of RuleVar 871 and save over the at2 file (I already made this change in eRisingDawn.at2)
Step 3: Start a new game (whatever at2 file you base your game on, complete Step 2)
Note: When playing other mods (GD1938, Four Seasons, etc.), they have their own unique unit counters.

Attached is an update to the reTOnato.atzip. It contains updated symbols for tank and artillery counters. Download and remove the txt extension to install. If you wish to see what is inside, rename from atzip to zip.

Update to my test game: now at war with all three AI regimes, though the French are in bad shape. Old Imperium is at war with the French and me. I am, or was, beating the Chinese. I am hoping Old Imperium declares war on the Chinese. Not likely...

While waiting for the ATG update, thought I'd take another crack at it. Reinstalled the game from scratch, success. I guess once the update is released we'll have to use the Rising dawn AT file if we want the changes. I thank you for your time and wanted let you know I did get it to work. Never dawned on me those steps in the other thread had links to pictures
