Germany Accepts the French Surrender

Post by canuckgamer »

In our PBEM game the Germans accepted the French surrender during the Axis half of the turn. It is now the Allied half. I am the Allies and have UK units in Cherbourg, hex 134,53, Brest, Oran, Algiers, Tunis and the the ports in Corsica that were owned by France. Although all the units occupied by the UK indicate that they are UK all the UK units in those hexes are labelled out of supply.
I assume that this works the same as when Vichy France is created in that there is a one turn delay and that next turn all the ports mentioned will provide supply to the UK units.

Ok so I ran through the 1940 and got the negotiated peace.

The UK unit in Fr. N.A. went to the queue.
The UK units in France mainland are still in their ports and got port supply.

But if they get caught out in the field and no port they will be out of supply as they only keep control of the hex they occupy.

Your experience sounds like it is different then what I am getting. As mentioned I have UK units in Cherbourg, Brest, Oran, Algiers, Tunis and the two ports in Corsica. Even those hexes are indicated as UK controlled the units in them are indicated as "no supply source". I am hoping that it works the same as when Germany opts for Vichy France, a one turn delay so that in the upcoming turn all the UK units I mentioned will be in supply from those ports.
I moved those units to those ports before Germany accepted the French surrender. I figured he then had to decide whether to declare Vichy in which case the UK units would be moved to the UK queue or accept a French surrender in which case he would have to fight to take those ports. In our first game my friend opted for Vichy France but calculated that he would gain more production points by accepting the surrender of France.
I will post here what the situation is next turn.

I think Alvaro assumed your opponent did Vichy (as Alvaro used negotiated peace), nor conquest, hence the misunderstanding?

PS : hum... you said that "Axis accepted France surrender mid-turn". Usually conquests are automatic at the end of the turn when morale reaches zero (might even need Algiers, can' remember). Are you sure Axis did not choose Vichy? Sound like it from your description...

I assumed it was negotiated since the word "accepted".

Check your version and make sure the opponent has the same version.

There is something now in the PBEM that shows in red different versions of challenges.
