Funny you should mention that. We've had so little rain lately that it's not growing. I mowed last weekend, but likely won't have to mow it again until next weekend. We did get some rain overnight and have thunderstorms in the forecast today, but most of the scattered thunderstorm activity that is possible almost every day in the summer here have missed us.

Driving that thingie around the lawn... is that really work?

Now, servicing it is another story. Or so I suspect. :)

Well he seems to have thought of everything when building the garage, so maybe he included a mechanic's pit to work under vehicles. Real handy for checking how well the lawn mower blade spins ... :o  :?

No mechanic's pit in the garage and no room for my older car with the lawn tractor, both bicycles, the grill, etc in there beside my wife's newer car. Once we get the pool and fence done in the backyard we plan to have a large shed build that will hold all of the outside tools and equipment, freeing up space for me to park in the garage as well.

Orm, riding the lawn tractor while mowing isn't very hard work, but it takes time that I'm happy to spend doing other things when the grass is growing much slower. ;)

Yup. Wargames, model trains, and Le Tour de France on TV are my leisure activities today. 8-)

I was trying to imply that it was more fun, and relaxing, rather than work. I do understand that it takes time away from other things.

With a new lawn, I suspect that riding the lawn tractor is rather smooth. So no back aches afterwards?

Listening to some pod while you do it might reduce the time wasted?

No, not yet. Some pebbles still remains.

It is usually a good chance for me to "zone out" for a bit, but sadly, it's not yet a smooth ride. Most of the property was just cleared in the last few months, so it's actually quite bumpy. I can't drive the mower as fast as it could go in most places from the rough ride, but I think the seat springs and cushioning help it not bother my back.

The bigger concern is still picking up plenty of spikes from the Callery Pear remains in the tractor tires. I've put some good sealant in all the tires so I don't get too many flats while mowing anymore, but removing the spikes when I'm finished still requires some time for the holes to seal up. I'm actually looking into some options to get all the tires filled with a foam that hardens and won't require air in them anymore. Maybe before next mowing season starts...

Nah, but I've been a very non-competitive biker. I've had some years where I rode over 2000 miles, but always for fun. I have cycled enough to REALLY appreciate what the Tour riders do! :o
