Couple of things I’d love your help with

Post by undercovergeek »

I’ve sent a colony ship into an ion storm and yep it’s stuck - I’ve researched the ion shield module and have upgraded future ships but how the hell do I get the stuck one back?

I’m playing as humans and have ackdarian and haakonish immigrants - when I search for new colonies how can I get the suitability to display for either of those as opposed to just the humans

Thanks for any help

Personally, I'd use the editor to delete the ship, presuming the normal game won't let you scuttle it. I'd accept that the ship were lost due to a bad decision, just not that it continues to cost maintenance. It's practically a derelict ship. It shouldn't cost maintenance. I'd consider putting an independent ship in its place, as neutral marker of the derelict.

If you want it back for free, you'll have to use the editor to give yourself a new colony ship. You could also adjust a colony's population to get the pops back, too.

Now that I’ve researched the ion shield and manually created a coloniser to get in there - does they AI have enough sense to send freighters and the like that have ion shields or do I have to manually start twiddling the civilian fleet?

Twiddling

In general, avoid colonizing dangerous nebulas unless you are absolutely ready to manage the effects. Don't rush it the moment you get Ion shields.

In order to be able to colonize with any population from a planet you need a certain amount of people on the planet first. I'm sure the magic border is 500 million, but not entirely sure. This means the game will not show those races planets until at least one planet have more than 500 million of that race.

Thanks chaps for replies - I may avoid this nebula planet then if I need to manually adjust the civilians

I guessed this might be the issue with the pop limit thankyou
