[1.0.6.0] New Colony bug (with nebula stuck colony ship)

Post by AesirAvatar »

So I have this colony ship filled with 30k Teeken which I sent to colonise a world - the target was in a nebula which turned out to be a Gravitic Storm (green) and colony ship got stuck at the edge. I spend a few minutes trying to coax it back out of the nebula to be useful but ship keeps stopping so I ignore it.

Later (colony ship still stuck in edge of nebula) I decide its time to colonize more planets so I rip open the New Colonies tab to see all the goody planets now available to me above +20 Suitability after some research.

I start clicking a few planets to schedule a colony ship.

Well, thats when the old stuck colony ship jumps in to be assigned. "Pick me" they say. I click another planet to schedule a colony ship to be built, instead, the stuck colony ship is reassigned to this new target "Pick for this this one too!". And Again. And Again.

I cant actually schedule a colony ship to colonize any planets via this means, given the stuck colony ship.

I go to the stuck colony ship - I cant destroy it, I can retire it at a nearby space port (wont work, its stuck), I can retrofit it (I've upgraded the model many times since its been stuck) but nope, it cant make it to another spaceport. I can refuel and repair - nope again.

Only option is... manually build a colony ship, manually load it, manually target it.

Ok, maybe its time to try that editor and destroy the ship, 30k teeken and 50k cost and materials...

Instead of automatically killing any order ships are given when their hyperdrive gets disabled, because they can't follow their order without a working hyperdrive, throw a message and ask the player how to proceed.
  • Continue and mark the ship as dealt with like the raided timer
  • Escape from nebula (on shortest way into free space) and stick to jump and cruise, whatever drive is working at any time, until the nebula is left behind, and than throw a message to remind the player of the once stuck ship/fleet
Killing crew and potential colonists shouldn't be forced upon innocent players ;)
