If KY is invaded, the Union gets two brigades - in Louisville and Frankfort. If MO is still neutral they will also shift towards the CS.

Use Diplo to take Kentucky. Attack Kentucky or ignore it... Doesn't really matter there is no high value in Kentucky really? I think there should be a Powerhouse City there as Lincoln put a high value on it.*FS worth making the Union have to station Corps/Divisions) But really there is no city in Kentucky worth dying for as the CSA. Better to lure the Union into Tennessee deep and attack him there unless Kentucky is literally free.
PvtBenjamin wrote: Tue Aug 02, 2022 10:06 pm That's it? No FS or Diplo impact? Guess I'll be DOWing as South all the time now. Automatically gives the South Paducah + port so the North ships are isolated on either side and if you use cavalry you can take 2/3 of the state before the North can react.

My opponents Cavalry is isolated in Kentucky (I took the city behind him) and still has 4 supply, the city & ports supply needs to be reduced on both sides when a city or port is captured. Not only are the cavalry moves unrealistic moving all over the map but you can capture a city/fort with a Marine then transport another unit on the next turn to hold and send the Marine off to capture another city. Probably makes sense to slow the whole process down.

If not what happens to Grant & co if the South takes Cairo Il prior to arrival?
They'll probably be able to deploy at some other eligible city of the Union player's choice instead of Cairo.

Thanks but I'm looking for something a little more definite than "probably" and the exact city/timing.

I searched ("Grant") thru the manual & guide and found no reference to Grant deploying.

Grant and his brigades will be allowed to deploy in the nearest friendly-controlled town instead.
PvtBenjamin wrote: Wed Aug 03, 2022 9:21 pm Looks like when the North DOW on Kentucky its the same as the South a couple brigades appear the same as the South no other downside.
And KY will secede, becoming core Confederate territory. This also means the Confederacy will be able to deploy new units in Louisville and Frankfort.

Yep...you got the Mississippi River to the left and the Tennessee River to the right....from the CSA's p.o.v.
The Northern buggers can envelop you from both sides.
Still... Paducah is a key town.
