Thanks for the update
It's fine Gunner. It just took another satellite pass for the Russians to get a location fix.

One of the Oscars came out to play and launched 24 sea skimmers (60ft @ ~1000 kts). The CSG CAP took care of all of them. Not sure why the second Oscar didn't launch at the same time but there's another satellite overhead so who knows.
Edit: The second Oscar chimed in after that sat pass.

The airstrikes all launched with disastrous results for the Russians.
1) Only one Backfire made it back to base and all of the Khinzals were intercepted.

2) The Fullbacks never made it to their launch points and only one made it back to base.

3) Five of the MiG-31Ks were killed and the other 3 damaged so badly it ended up as a mission kill.

The only issue I saw was one of the point triggers for destroying an S-300 not firing.

Just started playing. Looks like a great scenario. Couple questions.

1. Is there a reason MCAS Iwakuni and its units are not represented?

2. How come none of the RUS aviation assets are in maintenance? Or is assumed they are all primed and ready to go and planes in maintenance are not represented here?

Looking forward to playing this.

The MCAS Iwakuni stuff is left out for balance. I was having a hard time making this scenario a challenge and figured a couple Marine F-35 Sqns would just send it over the top, so I've assumed the USS America was off on task with a couple of the other DDGs that are forward deployed.

No Maintenance on the Russian side for the same reason really, they may not realistically be primed and ready but on the first run I thought I'd give them every benefit of the doubt. I have stripped away several Regts that could be in play and sent them off to Ukraine.

Enjoy.

To be fair, if maintenance was applied realistically to the Russian side there wouldn't even be an air battle

OK here is a rebuilt scenario with a bunch of fixes.

Did a bunch of fiddling with the bomber strike so am curious to know how that is working now.

Thanks for any feedback you might have.

Bump - anything new on this one? Quite a few adjustments from the original release.

Sorry for the late reply, but I'm playing this with the latest beta, and without warning (before even the first pop-up) the Udaloy in the Sea of Japan headed to Vladivostok attacks the French Frigate.

Also, just a thought. I understand leaving out the USMC F-35s and Iwakuni for balance, but It would be very nice to have the base available, so I can forward deploy the F-15s from Okinawa there.

UPDATE: I think the event(s) that make Russia commence hostilities need to be looked at, as I've had the Russians go hostile before the apparent time where the NFZ goes into effect, which is also the time the Russians are informed. Doesn't make sense for the Russians to attack before any of that.

This is a really impressive AAR and analysis, Andrew!. It goes to show how much I still don't grasp about the subtleties and depths of this game and I reckon I could learn a lot were I able to watch you play a complex scenario and talk me through it.

Does look as though a tricky balance needs to be struck between making the Kinzhals effective but not too effective but then, in reality, the Russians could fire as many of them as they like, so we're getting into 'game vs simulation' territory.

There's so much to try out in Command!. Presumably, these 2022 scenarios will be in the next Community Pack release, but I do wonder when I'd ever get round to playing them. I do have a certain reluctance to wargame the current conflict (or, God forbid, an extension of it) while it's still going on. Hopefully, it'll be over by the time these scenarios go on general release.

Three of the four are uploaded to the CSP now, this one will be when I get back.

These are purely fiction using a 'what if' alt reality as a back drop. So they probably shouldn't give you to much concern. For instance, in these scenarios Russian units perform as intended without the complicating problems we've seen in Ukraine.

OK, time to go fishing... In a boat, not online :)

The main thing you would learn is that I am an excruciatingly slow player!
