This has been driving me nuts for two years...

Logistics - I like the system, a lot.
But, I've never been able to understand the numbers and get them to add up "properly" (my expectation of proper).

So, today I zeroed in on one particularly annoying case with a focused experiment. Maybe everyone else already knew this, but in case there are others out there like me, I'll post the rather simple (in retrospect) finding.

The operational LP used as shown for the overland unit pick-up line never matched the amount used on the logistics net (roads/rails). With a pile of units all picking up at different spots, It was almost impossible to untangle what was going on to cause the mismatch. So, I contrived the following single-unit case (Ignore the GR Inf, it popped up off-turn and doesn't affect the experiment).

With just one unit, it became clear that the overland pick-up line number includes fuel and the logistics net number doesn't. Simple as that - because, I'm sure, oil travels through pipes (per the rule book) adjacent the road. But it never occurred to me that the overland numbers would show oil and caused me insoluble confusion in every day play. Now I understand.

(There are still other things I don't understand about the LP number, like what the yellow numbers are for - but that's for another day. At least I can sleep better with this little mystery solved.)

Not sure for what purpose 12 is shown, but fuel/energy supply to units does not consume LP, just need them to be present.

Exactly - I don't think there is a purpose, it's just the way it was implemented; not wrong, but very confusing. It changes the accounting method midway along the logistics route.
