PBEM Standard Rules

Post by Seristal »

Hi all,

I'm a long time lurker looking to start my first PBEM game.

I recall seeing mention of "house" rules in past posts agreed on by the players such as no motorization of units or amphibious invasions (IIRC?).

Are there standard community rules or does it vary from game to game?

Thanks!

Hi Seristal,

That's great to hear you're looking to start a PBEM game. Different people have different house rules but the 4 rules that are pretty much standard across all games:

- no temporary motorization
- no amphibious landings (sometimes it's limited to nothing ahistorical or a set hex distance behind the frontline)
- no paradrops (similar to above, sometime it's limited in frequency or a sex hex distance to the frontline)
- no GA/NP spam on a large number of small sorties (its easy to evade air combat if you do a large number of small sorties). Some players prefer to ban GA all together (except for t1 bombing) but i don't agree with that.

A few other options although less common are:
- limits to the number of airborne brigades converting to guard rifle corps
- limits to what type of AA units can be directly attached to units (Stamb's favourite house rule!)
- limits to what units can/can't be pulled from TBs (even when its unlocked)

Thank you, much appreciated!

Looks like you are running pretty cool house rules there.
