next public beta

Post by Joel Billings »

Matrix should be releasing a new public beta within the next day or two. It has some major adjustments in combat prep, along with changes in APs and AP costs, ground combat, and many other items. There are also some significant changes in the C41 scenario. In our tests, it adjusted balance in favor of the Germans in 1941. Harder to say how it impacted balance later on. It should make H2H games more balanced in 1941, while it will likely make AI games easier for the German player (so time to increase your AI help level if playing the Germans). Just wanted to give you a heads up that this update should be arriving soon. We have been following the discussions and are trying to account for player feedback, while continuing to fix bugs and improve systems. The new editor has been incorporated into this update, although it is not fully functional. Players can go back and forth between the old and new editor. This has allowed us to get the work into the beta stream so Pavel can continue to work on completing the new editor features, while making it easier for him to look at other game issues. That means we can fix a few more bugs or add a few new features while continuing to work on the editor. It also allowed us to provide info on upcoming unit renames in the reinforcement screen. Bottom line is there will be a lot to look at and check out in the new public beta.
All understanding comes after the fact.

And although I agree with the rule about the efficiency of the level 0 airfield for the transport of goods. I want to raise the question of what would be the change in the U-2 transport aircraft of the Soviet production, firstly, this is only 1 regiment for the entire Soviet aviation. With a very active production.

Secondly, the plane was not very whimsical and could land on any site up to a fairly large clearing right in the forest. And the cases of such landings and takeoffs are not isolated.

In the game, the aircraft cannot supply troops OUTSIDE of airfields. That is, it is necessary to revise the mechanics of using the U-2 aircraft in the transport version and increase the number of regiments on these aircraft.

Here is what I see in the NEW editor.

There are 17 fields in the NEW Editor -> Scenario, Unit, AOG, Air Group, Event, Location, Weather, TOE (OB), Leader, Ground Element, Ground Type, Device, Aircraft, Air Profile, Nation, Factory, CSV

There are 15 fields in the old editor, with Nat/Weather has 6 sub fields that can be edited: Main, +Game Event Editor, Units, Air Group, +Air Operational Groups, Locations, Leaders, TOE(OB), +TOE(OB) Chains, Ground Elem, +Ground Types, Aircraft, +Air Profiles, Device, Nat/Weather (Morale, Color, Production Modifiers), +Edit Weather Effects (River Costs, Weather Fronts, Movement Costs), CSV

Here is how the old and new match up:
Scenario -> Main
Unit -> Units
AOG -> Air Operational Groups
Air Group -> Air Group
Event -> Game Event Editor
Location -> Locations
Weather -> Nat/Weather
TOE (OB) -> TOE(OB)
Leader -> Leaders
Ground Element -> Ground Elem
Ground Type -> Ground Types
Device -> Device
Aircraft -> Aircraft
Air Profile -> Air Profiles
Nation -> Nat/Weather
Factory ->
CSV -> CSV

The user can now download using the old editor CSV files for: Units, OB Types, Cities, Leaders, Air Groups, Aircraft, Ground Elements, Devices, MAP Text, Pilot, Pilot Name, City Owner, Hex Art

These fields below are not implemented for a CSV download.

Can you implement a CSV download in the NEW editor for: AOG(Air Operational Groups), Event, Weather, Ground Type, Air Profile, Nation, Factory, Nation (Morale, Color, Production Modifiers), Weather Effects (River Costs, Weather Fronts, Movement Costs)?

Just my thought, implementing the CSV download will GREATLY enhance the creation of NEW scenarios? It will make the effort MUCH EASIER :-)
