Interesting observations... anybody else noticed similar stuff before?

Post by Apollo11 »

Hi all,

Although I play UV for years now (WOW - interesting fact isn't it) some things still do surprise me...

#1
If you have squadron with excess pilots (i.e. there are more pilots than MAX allowed aircraft in squadron) almost all the time I see that the lower ranked pilots (with lower EXP rating) fly the combat missions.

For example you have "Betty" squadron with 27 aircraft and 45 pilots (common case in UV Scen#19) and you managed to have them all to have EXP above 55.

When that Betty squadron flies to mission I always see that lower ranking pilots fly. In above case of 45 pilots this means that all of them will be in EXP range of 55-60+ while experts (with EXP range of 75-99) would not fly at all...

This does seem odd because one would expect that for combat missions (like ship strike) the best pilots would go first (that also had very bad side effect since only very experienced pilots can properly use torpedoes)... :-(

#2
The low EXP pilots (in EXP range of 15-30) get fatigue even the squadron is ordered to "Stand Down" (i.e. have Training "mission set to 0%).

This means that they, in fact, do exercise on ground (i.e. have ground school in units)!

Now, it would be nice to know when that ground school ends and when training flying can be of use (and up to how big EXP flight training really does work)...

I see this also, as I remember it was discussed long time ago

The idea is really good, however I believe it’s just illusion unfortunately. Don’t get me wrong, you may be right about some ground training take place (should be mostly physical, according to fatigue, thus pointless in these circumstances), but I think you see new pilots assigned. When new pilots come to squadron they always have some fatigue, their experience is always low, and it looks like rookies are being trained. Check it once again, monitor squadron, which has official number of pilots and show no tendencies to increase their numbers.

I thought exactly the same thing as you wrote but some things still didn't add-up...

Right now I am doing screenshoot archive in PBEMs I play to be 100% sure.

You are right. It was my post. And the one right after is also missing. I hope this isn't a repeat...
