1268.1 A-G Strafing ineffective

Post by boogabooga »

In the attached scenario, the A-10s are about to strafe some armor, but they are completely ineffective. I noticed that the bursts are missing by more than 200 ft, but the supposed CEP of the GAU-8 is just 4m.

I get that the GAU-8 "Brrrttt!" stuff is largely B.S. mythology, but I'm wondering if this strafing behavior is new WAD or indeed a bug. This same mission has the strafe going very well in version 1147.45- with the A-10s able to destroy several tanks- so there has been a change.

Also, the A-10s do not RTB when they Winchester.

Edit: I noticed later that the attached mission takes place at night, but the same results are obtained during the day.

I've noticed this with all strafing and even rockets. Every single one misses the target.

If the enemy unit is a facility based armored platoon, the A-10 misses by between 40m and 70m. If its four separate ground unit tanks grouped, the A-10 almost never misses. I suspect it has something to do with the abstraction of the four tanks as a facility.

But it is a new issue with the post-Tiny beta. In 1147.XX it was working fine, the A-10s could get quite a few kills against the armor group "facilities."

Was that when ground units were added as separate from facilities? I just found it interesting the difference. Is the issue with all facilities?

Ground units were added in version 12XX something, I think.

I don't know about all facilities.
