Is the last official patch still in plans or it was dropped?
What can we expect?

Tentative answer:

Yes, it's in the thread title - why the question? Is there a comment in there that went over my head? (lots of stuff does these days!)

Your post, Scott USN, immediately ahead of mine. I'm a bit confused about your intent? Were you asking a question, just making a comment, or is there a subtle reference there that I missed?

Just the last hoorah, or hurrah if you like. The swan song, the end. Just a statement.

Yes, I am a bit sad to know that no more support will be available after, but honestly, Matrix has kept improving this game far beyond the point where it made business sense. Mixed feelings, but good on them for the last effort to fix as many little things as economically possible.

One of my wishes is that there would be some changes in order where TFs and air units move/fly.

Minesweeper TFs should always move first (now it's based on TF number).

Recon planes should always fly before bombing mission an also after bombing mission.

And I just joined 10k posts club! :D 8-)

Is there any more possibility of a new game being released that is limited to a region or scale like Uncommon Valor?
I would love to see a WW2 naval warfare game set in the Atlantic or Mediterranean.

It got discussed a lot, but has never happened. Gary Grigsby's War in the West covered the Mediterranean 1942-45, but abstracted the naval element to a very high degree.

Other ideas

Pilots rescued from sinking CV- Depending on how sunk.

Pilots escape from captured bases

Aircraft able to fly escape from captured / overrun basses . All damaged aircraft destroyed - ok .

I am not certain that all pilots perish with their sinking carrier. I suspect there is a die roll routine that decides how many pilots survive and randomly picks them to show up in the pool at a later date.

Perhaps the same happens at captured bases. On the Japanese side I frequently see a line in the Ops Report that Pilot 'xyz' escaped capture and was rescued.
As for planes escaping captured bases, once the enemy is attacking an air base the assumption is that the airfield has been invested with enemy troops along the runways and throughout the service area. Trying to take off would mean a very low chance of surviving a hail of bullets and explosions.

All this is moot anyway. MichaelM has listed the few features he is authorized to work on and new suggestions are not going to be part of it.

As far as I know, at least the last point seems to be already part of the game.

I wish units that do not have engineers would be able to fortify a bit, lets say to level 3.

1 - Produce initial public beta - this would include everything that would be in the final release
(( we would expect to iterate on public beta releases for a while, to fix issues found during the beta period ))

2 - Go GOLD
(( once we think we are stable, we'll work with Matrix to prepare the final version for release ))

3 - Public Release
(( Once the final version is ready - Matrix will release to the pubic ))

So right now, we're working on step 1. Once you see that available, you'll know we're in the beta period for this release !!

We're still working on step 1, but we can see the finish line for step 1 now and you guys will see it once the public beta is released - shortly. And yes, it took about six months longer than I expected. Hopefully it will go faster in the future.
