[FIXED] AIM-7M vs AIM-120D stern-case intercept performance

Post by Tcao »

Sorry, one more question:
why AIM-7M sparrow seems to have a better performance compare to 120D?

I haven't got a chance to record the AIM-7M's speed and altitude

at first glance , it seems AIM-7M bleed speed at much lower rate.

then the 2nd run makes me feel AIM-7M has a better lofting flight profile ?

Now this is an interesting case.

Arranged for the two shooters to be side-by-side and recorded the engagement on Tacview:

Note the difference in lofting profiles, probably due to the different guidance mode. In this case, because the estimated intercept point is distant (the target is running away), the loft profile followed by the AIM-7M appears to be more energy-efficient. The AIM-120D's profile would be more appropriate for a fast-incoming target, where lofting high would be problematic.

To bad that I don't have TacView. But I saw the difference after running the scenario a couple times. 5 seconds after it is fired, 120D climbed to its apogee at 45000ft. Sparrow reached its apogee at 58000ft at 12s.

So....
is this a WAD?
or amraam's lofting profile will be tweak in the future update?

Thx

Awesome! Thank you.

Tried the new build, it works beautifully.

Haven't test PL-12/15 and Meteor, but AMRAAMS has a much better performance than before. a 50% range WRA on C-5 to D version should guarantee a hit on a Mig-29A ( AMRAAMS A and B version can be set at 75% range, and I am not sure why A + B 's range tweaked from 40nm to 27nm back in 1270 build?).
