Misleading description on Corps Research?

Post by Duedman »

In my recent MP match I realized, that only Union can get Corps AP to 5
The Tech Tooltip says 0,5 AP per level of research. So you would think level 4 gives 2 extra points.

But no. Obviously Corps at lvl0 tech already have "2,5" AP.
lvl1 = +1 (3)
lvl3 = +2 (4)
lvl5 = +3 (5)

So there is little reason for CSA to tech this to lvl4.
I think the description should state this more clearly. I went for that research as CSA just for the 1 extra AP.

Fun game overall.
An extra scenario balanced a tiny bit more for multiplayer would be great tho

Does anybody know whether the thing I described above does also count for Infantry Tactics in regards to defense vs. riverboats?
Meaning that level 3 already gives the 2nd defense improvement vs. boats?

Should not matter, as combat values do not act as integers in the way Action Points do. They are mutliplied by combat readiness %, so 1.5 def value is better than 1. It is not only 0/1/2, with 1.5 not meaning anything (like for AP).

In my experience yes big time. Indian Cav 1 against a Union Cav Brigade with no Cav Eqt ugrade equals punishment for the hapless Federal. Attacks from 3 upgraded Indian Cavalry can utterly destroy them unless they get lucky and evade. Still, its possible even then to run them down and kill em' if you got something else nearby.
I would highly encourage anyone playing CSA to research all Cav tech as a priority. 🙂

Yes.
Need to get lvl2 guns on them as the Union too asap. One should go for the enemies vision whenever possible.
And lvl0 Cav gets totally wiped by anything with lvl2 guns
