I think there is a bug. When the USA takes over the Azores, the new beach hex remains Portuguese. Thus you cannot do an invasion, when you are not at war with Portugal.

It could be on purpose since the base in the Azore was lent to Allies, but the territory remained under Portuguese sovereignty. Any invasion of the island would therefore have been a declaration of war on Portugal.

Not sure, but I suspect an oversight in the events.txt.

If a bug, than this should do the trick:
//Azores goes to UK
$ChangeTerritory
if_Date=10/15/1943
if_Country=43
if_Alliance=Neutral
//Azores
targetCountry=3
lifespan=tillTrigger
xyArea=98,27
xyArea=99,26
xyArea=100,26
// Add this line to correct bug:
xyArea=101,26
text=Portugal agrees to allow the Allies to base military units in the Azores.
addReportTo=All
$End

Invading why? The port is not working to disembark once the event has fired?

Yea you can't invade there because it is still Portuguese.

They lent it to the Allies. Invading the Azores would mean a DOW on Portugal.

you can't invade or once you are on the beach you can't advance? There was a version where Azores had a bug and you couldn't advance once you landed, I think that's been fixed in which case you need to update.
