[1273.1] Weapon allocation is lost

Hi
It seems that allocation of weapons is lost:
(SAM Weapons in the savegame)
->In the savegame if you open it you see that
3/301st AA Missile Brigade (S-300PT-1 Btn) near port of odessa has 8 allocated weapons. If you run the game for 1 seconds all 8 allocated weapons are lost

Perhaps try on v1274.1 (I remember having similiar issue on v126x betas), but not with the current v1274.1 anymore.

This save did load for me (unlike Eric's): isn't that simply because it decided to launch 2x missiles automatically instead due WRA?

No it is the same with 1276.1

Just one the savegame and run for 1 second. The allocation is lost....

So for me it is not possible to game further because suddenly the allocation is lost

When I load the save (before hitting run), it is only showing 2 allocated.

On the top right side you have to select "to anyone" then you see the 8 allocated targets (there are more than one target allocated)

I tried it. When I look at all the guided missiles the unit is trying to fire at, all are out of range of the missile except the closest one. It does initially say its allocating SAMs to those out of range missiles, but as soon as I hit play, it drops the allocation to any missile that is out of range. If I try yo reallocate one to those missiles, I get the out of range message in the allocation dialog box.

Thats the best I can see. Thats in 1274.1. Will try in 1276.1.

Edit: Same in 1276.1.

The issue is still on build 1291.1
It is also on other scenarios that the weapon allocation is suddenly lost. For me it is a very important feature.
It is very easy to replicate on the savegame: Open the savegame (Open weapon allocation for the 3/301st AA Missile Brigade, on the right side you click on "To anyonye" to see the 8 allocated SA-10a. Then after a second the 8 allocated weapons disapear...)

Yeah looks like manual allocation might wipe the prior allocations instead of adding it to the list of allocations. See Screenshots. Can't remember if it is supposed to work this way. :shock:

It seems to me that in the newly builds the allocation is checked and if the AI calculates that it is not possilbe to hit (maybe out of range). it removes the previous allocated weapons.

If that is the case then this is very dangerous. The AI muste be 100% sure that the allocated weapon will never has a change to hit the weapon!!!. I don't tink this is feasable manageable.

I suggest that once a weapon is allocated that it should keep allocated until the target is lost or the weapon is manually deallocated. Never ever the AI should decide to deallocat the wepon automatic for previous manually allocated weapons.

I don't think it is the manual fire that is dropping the weapons. I think there is something else at play.
The ROE has the weapon on hold, and it has the 8 allocated to the targets. But a second or two later the weapons are deselected. You can see that if you allocate a weapon against the incoming missiles and leave the window open so you can see the allocation list.
My initial guess is that when goes to fire the next missile in the list, it finds the ROE says that the weapon is on hold and clears the firing list.

I'll check the firing schedule to see how that plays out over the weekend.

Mystery solved.
The weapons are being dropped because the targets are in a non-nav zone!
Attached a pruned copy of your save - original too many units to track.

Load it up and the allocated salvos drop off as expected.
Load it again and turn off the E Minefield No-nav zone. The salvos stay and get fired normally.

This is a tricky one as there has been several discussions whether units should be able to fire into a non-nav or exclusion zone.

But for me that makes no sense. These non-nav zone is not for aircraft/missiles....

Anyway. If that behaviour does not change then i have to check and maybe remove non-nav zones before i start a scenario.
This scenario is not playable with these non-nav zones that are intended for ships ("Zones for mines")...

I hope you consider and improve the current behaviour

I have raised it with the DEV team for feedback.

The contacts in the non-nav are being incorrectly dropped so the weapon allocations are also being dropped. A manual allocation of weapons should stop the contact from being dropped as per the code.
The contact has been flagged as auto-targeted rather than as manually allocated weapons. Which is why it is dropped.

Trying out a fix to see if that can be overridden if any weapons have been manually assigned.
