Panther Games is dev #1 ...

Post by JeF »

... in the Wargamer's 2003 reader's choice awards

HttR is third in Wargame of the Year section (after CM and KP), and ... second for game of the year below CMAK but above Call of Duty !!! [:D]

Finally, Matrix Games is noted publisher of the year.

[8D] I'm surprised to be the first to have noticed this.

Congratulations guys, it is well deserved.

On a side note, last year, PG didn't make it into the first three, despite proposing virtually the same game, and being published by the publisher who won nearly all awards in 2002. Isn't life strange ... [8|]

Cheers,

JeF.

Some forums resent not being the center of the universe, and seem to resent when members post messages that highlight they are NOT the center of the universe.

Had to look, your only mistake on that post over on BF General Discussions, was assuming anyone at BF gives a flying f**k for anyone else's game eh.

Heaven forbid they should get a reputation for actually helping a wargamer if it wasn't connected to buying their oh so precious wargames.

BF is only interested in you, if you are willing to faun all over their game CM.

Being interested in something other than CM is clearly a fundemental violation of their forum guidelines

I believe that was a legitimate lock. That guy didn't know what he was asking for. The BTS gang are, in my experience, a great bunch of guys, and I know they only wish Dave, Paul, and the gang at Panther Games the best.

As a BETA tester for both games I know there is no ill will either way. Please stop making it an us against them thing, that can only come to tears.

Here, here...Bil. You are spot on.

Just for the record we departed BF on what I consider to be good terms. There is no ill will felt on our part and nothing I have seen in our ongoing business with BF that indicates they have any ill will either. It may be hard for some people to accept that both our companies are mature enough to see this for what it is - a business decision and nothing more. So it would be best if everyone accepted that.

Remember that while there is a need to excercise discrimination don't let cynicism blind you to the fact that this is a beautiful world full of great people. ( and hereth endeth the lesson [;)] ).

Far be it for me to say that Arjuna didn't actually depart BF on good terms, he should after all know if he did or didn't.

But hmm reality check, the game had hardly left Battlefront, and mention of it was unwelcome, even though it had had its own forum for some time.

The moment it wasn't a Battlefront product, mention of it was unwelcome.

And why was it wrong defacto for that member, member 2397, if we are using numbers as some sort of pecking order, that makes him better than 3000 by the way, for him to ask a simple question of what you would have us believe are "a fine bunch of guys".

A fine bunch of guys would have given him some assistance finding his game, not lock his thread and essentially tell him to shut up in essence.

My experience with the BF General Discussions forum is I guess different.

Frankly I would like to get HTTR when I get a chance. And frankly I am glad that Battlefront is not the source in some ways. I would rather any cash of mine, went to people that are hard working and an asset to the hobby.

Call that harsh if you wish, they earned it.

I am only involved with Battlefront through their game Strategic Command. I have no other use for them.

It was never an us versus them issue. Battlefront has always been a company only interested in Battlefront. There was never an "us".

Sounds like the only one who has a problem here is you.

Check out this thread that I started back when HTTR shipped: BFC General Forum ...it was never closed, in fact Moon said:
Nice! All the best to the Panther guys from us.

I was going to write that I knew what was the newest addition to Panther's team that led to this Dev of the Year award. But, now, I'm not so sure ... [:'(]

No, no problem Bill, I call a spade a spade, and I am not overly worried when a spade being a spade bothers someone :)

Moon being nice once out of numerous occasions when he wasn't doesn't impress me.

Maybe Moon is not a bad guy. But I have no particular worries. But the management at Battlefront couldn't hold a candle to the majoriy of other forums I have participated on.

The Battlefront membership are by and large rabidly pro Combat Mission, but that's just fanatical loyalty to a game. I am not much different with several games I like.
