Submarine Tactics.

I'm having trouble figuring out submarine tactics. I'm trying the Scenario "Giving Some Hell to Harry" which seems like a good introductory scenario for subs. I keep getting caught and torpedoed before even getting close to the carrier group. I've tried avoiding cavitation, going deep, hiding in the layer, trying to approach at creep speed nothing seems to change the result. What are some solid tactics or principles to start with. Additionally, what sources would you suggest to start getting a better handle on sub tactics?

The most frustrating part of a Submarine scenario is that you don't know how you get detected. And without that knowledge you won't be able to find a solution so the next gameplay it could be the same ending.

If you don't mind, use godview and check the ofpor's battle log. First identify your submarine was caught by which sensor.
