[FIXED][1284.1] DB 496 some missiles burning time still low and ranges are still short

Post by AceOfSpadeszzzzzz »

In the attached scenario we can see that even though the target is already within half of the entire range, we still get an "out of DLZ range" if we try to manually fire the missile, and after we finally reached the range and fired the missile the motors only burn for like 4 sec.

Tested this now on the forthcoming next update and it seems to work as expected, please confirm once the new beta is out.

To clarify:

There is a known DB issue with the motor type of the AIM-120D & AIM-260, they should be "Rocket - Long Burn" instead of the current "Rocket - Boost/Coast". The current erroneous type gives them an unrealistically low boost time (and thus low speed at edge-of-envelope shots). However, they _are_ fired at the limit of their kinematic range and can intercept a cooperative target at that range.

The DB error has been corrected for the next DB release.

I see, that's good to know, thanks!

Tried with PL-15 and Meteor.
PL-15 got the same problem but Meteor don't.
Is it the same DB error?

Meteor has the correct flag.

The PL-15 is a curious cat ATM. There is a lot of discussion out there as to whether it has a dual-pulse motor OR it has a traditional boost-coast motor and just uses very high speed to achieve its great range (an example of the latter claim here: https://www.iiss.org/blogs/military-bal ... peed-kills )

Then how about these ones:
weapon 4079: Astra MKII ---- 95s(140s endurance)-boost & coast
weapon 4110: PL-21 ---- 3.3min(220s endurance)-boost & coast
weapon 3120: aa-12c ---- 48s(132s)-b&c
weapon 915: aa-13 ---- 110s(160s)-b&c
etc.

And for weapon 1199 AAM-4B, it writes that it uses Rocket[long burn] with 20s burnout period which is almost same as weapon 4078 Astra MKI whose burnout period is 19s using Rocket[B&C]

Will these be fixed?

Can you make a separate thread for each of those so that we can investigate them individually.

I garb the point this article wants to convey. But the fact is that the Max speed of PL-15 is even not faster than AMRAAM, just 2375kt, results in improper shrink of combat range.
