monster gamer, eh.
you played all the original D&D modules?
Advanced Squad Leader my fav.
Thank you Elvis!
Yeah with D&D I incorporated a few of the early modules put out by TSR and more from White Dwarf (UK). Mostly it was home brewed adventures tied in to a huge campaign, which is still going from 1981 (OMG) and we use the first edition rules and table top battle rules for big engagements.
I love ASL and have a lot of the original modules...but couldn't get my group interested...so solo for me. What we did do were the beer and pretzel monsters like SPI's Objective Moscow and Invasion America..hypothetical conflicts. Also...since my group liked operational scale games..we did a ton of Game Research Design's Europa series...mostly East Front oriented matches...which were truly massive. The rules were dense with Europa and that was part of the problem where I couldn't interest anyone in ASL also...not enough time to absorb two different systems.
Anyways..I pulled out a section of my Europa collection..The Winter War...an old favorite. Plug this in with the other East Front maps and you will be required to set of three 4x6 card tables, masonite and sheets of plexiglass to set it all up.
Those days are gone...thank the goddess for computers and large monitors now haha.
To Arms Against Tyranny!
Cheers
