I am sure he thinks this is a great victory. But he will soon wish he had that tank division in a better location, rather in the hinterlands
of Northern China. There really is nothing up here he can really use, the oil at Urumchi is hard to get to move and at this time I have the
road blocked. And killing off some Chinese squads will not win the game for him.

Not much. I have been bombing some of his troops in Northern China. A few Wellington 1cs
from a small airfield. He finally go some A6M2s up on LRCAP. They had to fly at least 12 hexes.
I lost 5 Wellingtons, so for now I will stop, it was draining my supply in the area anyway.

Xargun sent 83 Nell bombers and 62 Helen bombers on night port strikes against Akyab.
CL Caradoc took one bomb, I think a 250kg bomb, and suffered some additional damage.
I put more fighters on night duty to see if they can slow things down. He did not lose that
many bombers, maybe tonight I will have better luck.

And again the night bombers attack Akyab port.

12 separate attacks comprising 56 Nell and 67 Helen bombers, some of those turned back because they
were unescorted. CL Emerald took a hit from a 250kb bomb and had a 6" turret destroyed, this added 2 to the sys damage.
The raids cost him 4 Nell and 2 Helen bombers.

I almost forgot this:

As I understand it, the minefield has to be detected before AMcs or AMs will react to it. That's a die roll so you got some good ones to keep the field from being detected until it did its dirty deeds. 8-)

More Variants - The Allies ride again - No xargun please

Post by Nomad »

It does have to be detected first, and he found out the hard way it was there. I am wondering if his AMcs had really bad commanders.
A low naval skill might account for them not detecting the minefield. I tend to only use AMcs after the minefield has been detected, I
use AMs for detection and clearing operations. I purposely train my AMs up to 45 day and night experience for that reason.
And I put some good commanders in charge, it cost from 0-1 to upgrade the commander.
Also good Naval Search and air ASW can detect subs in the area. When I see some I put AMs on alert at nearby bases.

This game does reward diligence everywhere. Very hard to do with the horde of detail it throws at you every turn!
